Mei woke up before sunrise, she picked up her clay pot and began her walk to the stream. When she first arrived in the village, she was shocked at their way of life. It was so simple and peaceful, everything in the village was shared and there were hardly any conflicts.
If any conflicts came up, they were settled quietly by the village head. They treated her as one of their own and Mei felt at home most especially because of the people's skin colour. It was a lot similar to her own, some of them were even darker than her.
It was nice to walk around the village without getting any curious glances or hearing rude words about her.As she walked, she caught up with other young girls walking to the stream. "Aya wait for me!" Mei turned around at the sound of her friends voice and smiled as the girl ran up to her.
When Mei arrived in the village she decided to go by her second name, she wanted to forget everything she'd left behind so it made sense to answer another name.
"Jiya, you're a little late this morning" Mei said as she and her friend continued walking to the stream. Jiya laughed "Mother wouldn't let me sleep yesterday so I overslept, you know I'm still shocked that you've learnt our language so quickly and you speak so fluently" Jiya said.
Mei shrugged, "I didn't have a choice, if this is going to be my new home then I have to learn the language" Mei said.
"You really have no intention of going back, what about the man you love?" Jiya asked.
They arrived at the stream and Mei carefully stepped into the cool water and filled the clay pot with water. She wished people would stop bringing up her past, she was happy here and didn't see herself going back to her old life.
"Jiya I don't want to go back, im happy here and as for the man I loved, he'll forget me eventually just as I have forgotten him"
"But Aya, you don't seem like the kind of person to let go so easily. I've studied you and I can see that when you love, you love forever" Jiya said.
"Yes well, my love was unappreciated so I have no reason to hold on and I'm never going back"
"What if he comes here?" Jiya asked as she and Mei placed their pots ontop of their heads and began walking back to the village.
"That will never happen, let's hurry back I'm hungry and I don't want to miss the morning prayers" Mei said, dismissing the conversation.

Soo ho sat on his bed, listening to his roommates talking about things he wasn't interested in. Things hadn't gone as he'd planned and now nobody knew where Mei was and if she even alive. "Yah Soo ho why are you so quiet?" Ban ryu asked.
"Did your date go badly?" Yeo wool asked.
"How can you guys sit here and be happy when our friend is still missing? Aren't you worried about Mei at all?" Soo ho asked. Everyone sighed, it wasn't that they didn't care that Mei was missing but they had all been trying to distract themselves from thinking about it.
It had been so long and there was still no word so it obviously wasn't a kidnapping. That left only two options, Mei had run away or something bad happened to her.
"What do you expect us to do Soo ho, we are all worried about her but there's not much we can do about it. We don't know where she is and if she's even alive" Dan Sae said.
Soo ho stood up and pulled Dan Sae up and smashed his body against the wall. "Don't you dare say such negative things, Mei is alive and somehow she'll come back home" Soo ho said.
"Why is it so important to you that Mei comes back?" Ban ryu asked.
"I was supposed to help her but things didn't go well and now we have no idea where she is"

Moo myung sighed as he went through some documents, he was highly against Jinheung leaving Silla but the man refused to listen. He left with Pa oh, leaving Moo myung in charge.
"You don't even know where she is, send the hwarang, I'll even go with them and we'll go to the ends of the earth to find Mei but you can't leave you're the king for crying out loud!"
Moo myung had argued, the king wouldn't be deterred. Now Moo myung was saddled with the royal responsibilities until his cousin returned, IF his cousin returned.
Jinheung was on the verge of giving up, he and Pa oh had been to several countries and had yet to see Mei or at least anyone that knew who she was. He sat in a small tavern in small village and stared at the drawing of Mei, he'd shown it to so many people but none of them recognized her.
Perhaps she died and it was time for him to go home. He regretted his behaviour and wished he could turn back the hands of time.
Pa oh came to the table with the food he'd bought. "Let's go home your majesty, we've been away too long already do not forget that you are a king and you have duties" Pa oh said.
Jinheung nodded and placed Mei's picture on the table and then he reluctantly started eating.
A woman walked passed their table and then she came back and smiled pointing at the picture. "Aya!" The woman exclaimed. Jinheung looked at the woman and then he held the picture up. "Do you know her?" He asked.
The woman obviously didn't understand what he was saying because she kept smiling and saying "Aya!"
She took the picture and signalled for them to follow her, then she started walking away. Jinheung and Pa oh followed her until she got to a dock. She climbed into a small boat and waited for them to climb in. Then she began to row the boat using a large stick. Since they wouldn't understand each other, nobody spoke. The woman sang softly as she rowed.
