You wake up with your hands bound in silver shackles to a moss covered wall. Your head hurts, not like a headache, more like a throbbing flesh wound. A low groan is the only noise over the drip of water. You look around in the dimly lit room. Mossy cobble stone walls surround you on three walls. The fourth, a set of bars, and a smaller hall-like area with a ladder leading up to what you assume is the outside world.

Where were you? What happened? You look around some more. You're completely alone, in the dark damp room. A shiver traces your spine. You don't know how long you sat there, pulling on the chains to no avail, before the sound of a door opening sent you into a panic. Bright light fills the room as a man with a blue mask drags your red-headed sister in.

Brian shoves Nicole into the cell with you and shackles her hands as well. He looks away from your shocked expression. You had know about talk of a traitor, but Brian?!? This you weren't prepared for. You'd know Brian as a kid!

"Brian? Where are we? Why are you doing this?" You struggle to get him to look at you.

"You wouldn't understand," His deep voice is shaking. With that he turns and leaves you and Nicole. "Goodbye, (Y/N)."

~Garroth's POV~

"Garroth.... I need you...." Aphmau's voice leaves a sour taste in my mouth. How could someone I loved so much hurt me so bad?? I shift on my bed to lay on my back instead of my side. I can hear her sigh through the dark oak door. "Feel better soon."

I hear her small footsteps trail away. I stop myself from going after her. She asked for this. If she loves Laurence so much then she can have him, but I wasn't going to be any part of it. Footsteps approach again.

"Look, I don't want to talk," I say, sighing.

"Why? I just want to help. I heard you were, 'sick'," A soft yet unfamiliar voice rings out. "I can help." The door opens with ease and I lean up. A woman with raven black hair and pale blue eyes enters. A cold smile spreads across her lips. "I have a proposal for you, Garroth Ro'meave."

~Aphmau's POV~

"I want my daughters back!" The lord of Scaleswind nearly screams. I have to force myself not to shake. Oh, what I'd give to have Garroth beside me right now. Zane smiles coldly, with a deep laugh.

"We will find them." I try one last time to reason with the irrational leader.

"You'd better before I come in and look for them myself! You have until tomorrow."

"Lady Aphmau, we've looked everywhere. I suggest we prepare for the battle." I stare out the window, looking over my once peaceful village. With a deep breath I nod.

"Laurence, please bring everyone from Phoenix Drop to my house first. I would like to speak to everyone. Garroth too if you can." He nods and leaves. Garroth stands on the balcony of the guard town with Lillian. I guess she did help after all. After a while, Laurence and a group of people from my village join me, including Garroth.

"I have gathered you all here because it seems like war is inevitable at this point. I want to let you know I'm proud of everyone of you, but we do not know what Scaleswind is capable of, so no one will shame you if you decide to leave now. All of you have families, I will not force you to fight." I look around as no one moves.

"M'lady," Dante speaks up. "With all do respect, Phoenix Drop is our home. If we did not wish to fight we'd have gotten on that ship. We're not going anywhere."

I smile. "Thank you. I want everyone to get ready. We have one hell of a day ahead of us tomorrow. Kenmer and Emmalyn, I want you two to keep looking for the girls. Try anything and everything, but once the fighting starts, take cover."

"Of course." Emmalyn grabs Kenmer's hand and starts pulling him out. "There's not a second to loose!"

"Donna, set up a medical center in the barn immediately. Lucinda, stabilize the wall barrier.  Logan and Dante, see to it that everyone is fed and gets plenty of rest. Laurence see anyone fit enough to take night watches. Everyone else, get ready and be prepared. You are dismissed."

I watch as my people start to funnel out. I catch Garroth's arm before he leaves. "A word, Garroth?"

"Yes?" His says after everybody had left.

"Are you alright? Are you still feeling sick? Are you fit to fight?"

"I'm fine. Don't worry about me."

"Garroth, I am worried. You've been pushing me away. Do you need to talk?"

"I'm fine, M'lady. Get some rest. I'll see to the rest of the preparations."

"Alright. Be safe."
