You charge, and with a loud clang, Katelyn the fire fist blocks your attack. Your breathing is heavy, but you can't help but smile as she slides back in the sand. You had hit her hard.

"(Y/N)," Garroth grabs your arm and pulls you back roughly. "That's enough!" Aphmau continues to take to Katelyn trying to explain your 'rash' actions. Garroth turns you and you stare through the help into his ice-like eyes. Shivers trace your spine and the butterflies in your stomach dance faster and faster. You'd never admit it, but recently it seems just thinking about the way he walked, as if every step was calculated and planned, set your heart a flutter. You don't know if it is what most would refer to as 'love'. You blink realizing he was talking.

"-control it. And if you can't then I'll have no choice but to retire you from the Phoenix Drop guard." Your eyes widen.

"You can't!" You take a moment to realize that as head guard, he bery much could. You rephrase. "You wouldn't!"

"I can and will if you don't stop acting like a child!" You grit your teeth. You bite your tongue as Katelyn starts talking.

"It's quite alright," she straightens and dusts off her armor. "As soon as she apologizes, we can talk." Everyone looks at you, waiting. You cross your arms.

"I'm sorry... Sorry that you had the nerve to offend me." Garroth gives you a warning glare through his helm. "No! I will not apologize for something I don't believe I did wrong!"

          "(Y/N), sto-"

"(Y/N)? As in (Y/N) of Scaleswind...?" Katelyn's baby blue eyes question you. She faces you and kneels. "It's an honor." You roll your eyes. You hated formality.

"Yeah, what's it to you?" Garroth shoots you another glare. Katelyn stands.

"We went to guard academy together," she pulls up her sleeve, revealing   a small burn scar. "You threw a torch at me."

"Oh," you can barely hear Garroth laugh over Aphmau's laugh. You feel your cheeks go red. "I-In my defense, you did say 'fight me.'"

"Correction: I said 'fight me, Shrimp.'" Aphmau laughs again. "Anyways, now is not the time for relieving foul memories. Aphmau, we have much to discuss."

You walk with Laurence, ready for patrol. His golden armor catches the fading dusk light and reflects into your eyes. You had to admit, you had been quite livid when Garroth choose Laurence as his second in command. Why not you? You had been here longer and worked a lot harder that Laurence did. Yet, he had chosen the sandy haired boy instead. You were still very salty.

"So... Katelyn, huh?" He attempts to make small talk with you. You give him the same cold shoulder as before. "Are you still mad?" Error responds in your mind with a few not-so-nice words in your head. "Look, I earned this-"

You pin him against the wall of Cadenza's house, which you were passing. "You don't deserve it! You did NOTHING to earn it! I work hard, day and night! I pour my heart and souls into keeping my home safe! You slack off eating Kawaii-Chan's cakes!" You hope he didn't hear you say souls

"Maybe, but who was it that left her city when it needed her?!?" He flips you around, now pinning you. "You. How do we know you won't leave again?!?" His eyes widen and he lets you go, regretting what he just revealed to you.

"I-Is that why...?" You look down, struggling with tears. "He doesn't trust me...?"

          "I never said tha-"

"I-I'm going to talk to Aphmau..." You ignore his attempts to call you back. Shifting into the albino wolf, you race to the purple and white house, feeling your heart break a little more with every step. Tears stream behind you as you run.

You scratch on the door. Garroth answers and looks down at you.

"(Y/N)?" Panic fills you. You back up, shifting back. He spots your tears. "Are you okay?"

You stand, shakily, and run back down the hill. He calls your name as you steer to the dark docks. You hear someone following you. You know it's Garroth, you recognize his calculated steps. He grabs your wrist, pulling you to look at him.

"(Y/N)? Are you okay? Where's Laurence? He was supposed to be with you." you can see Aphmau on the hill, walking towards the seen. You pull away roughly.

"I'M NOT A CHILD!" Tears fall down your face faster. "DID YOU REALLY THINK I WOULD LEAVE? HOW DARE YOU ACCUSE ME OF THAT!"

"Is that what this is about," He looks at you with shock and disbelief. "Your jealousy?!?" Aphmau stands by, watching the scene unfold.

          "Both of you calm down-"

"SHUT UP!" Part of you felt bad for yelling at Aphmau, part of you didn't care. Garroth draws his sword in her defense.

"Watch your mouth!" You reach for your own sword but realized you must have dropped it.

"WHY SHOULD I?!? SINCE NOBODY EVEN TRUSTS ME!" Garroth glares at you, almost daring you to say something. "BUT YOU KNOW, I GUESS I CAN'T TRUST YOU PEOPLE EITHER! BECAUSE SOMEONE COULDN'T KEEP THEIR BIG MOUTH SHUT ABOUT ME BEING A HALF SOUL!" That seems to have been the last straw.

Garroth charges at you, shifting his left pinky slightly like he always did before he swings. You side-step, and he stumbles onto the docks. Aphmau screams as he charges again, this time shifting his index finger. You duck as his sword skims the air above you. You sweep your leg on the ground, knocking him down. You can feel adrenaline pumping through your veins.

You call on the soul of the ocean. Feeling the same power flooding through you as when you first arrived. You push the force onto Garroth, knocking him over and dousing him. He gasps for air as the water retreats. Aphmau runs to him as his coughing fit starts.

You step back. What had you just done? You blantly had attacked the head guard of your village. Sure it was self defense, but hadn't you provoked him? You knew punishment would be up to the lord, as law states, but would Aphmau be willing to defend you?

"Go!" Aphmau throws a rock at you. It hits you in the thigh. "Go! Leave! You're no longer welcome in Phoenix Drop!"
