The Hobbit: Book One

Chapter Two

I stop my horse because I noticed she was getting tired. I stopped near a lake so Mithren immediately went to the water and started drinking. I smile, that long run took a lot out of her. I stop near her and I sit down on a rock, I look at my fathers bow and I look at the designs closely. Leaves and swirls were carved in the wooden part of the bow. I smile, I look farther down and see his name. I feel tears prick my eyes, I shake them off.

I hear the leaves rustle behind me and I stand up immediately drawing my bow aiming at this mystery person. He had a gray robe, a gray pointy hat and a scepter. "Who are you?" I ask not putting down my fathers bow. "Gandalf, Gandalf the Gray" he says. I put away the arrow that was drawn and put the bow around me, I turn towards my horse "Your home" he says, I flip around "what about it" I ask sternly. "Got destroyed, yes?" I nod. "Sorry to hear" I nod looking down "I'm the only one who survived" I look up at Gandalf "what brings you here?" He thinks for a moment. "Aoibheann the Princess of Kortirion" he says in elvish. I look at him confused "and great warrior are you not?" I nod agreeing to what he says "what about a quest?" He asks. I've been on quests before, but I've never been on them long, so they're more like a journey discovering new places.

"So, helping dwarves claim their homeland from the dragon. They are meeting in a hobbit home in the Shire?" I rephrase. He nods, I stand up from the rock "they will not accept me, dwarves have grown to hate elves" he nods "this is true, but you will bring greatness to this company, I know it" I think for a moment. What he says might be true, I've always loved dwarves, but then came a time where dwarves started hating elves. I nod agreeing "when do I leave" he smiles standing and is about to leave "tomorrow early morning" I nod. He leaves and I'm alone to think about this quest, we all could die, I hope Thorin Oakenshield knows what he is up against. I pack what I have left on Mithren, and I lay down as soon as I finished. It was night, I'm not surprised it always felt like these days went by to fast. I watch the stars shine until soon enough sleep catches up.

So Aoibheann met Gandalf. Gandalf has traveled to Kortirion before but Aoibheann was never around to meet him.....so...fun right?
