"Sir, we are about to take her."

"The Sinnoh girl?" The mastermind asked from his cell.

"Yes."

"Not the Sinnoh girl you imbecile!" His acquaintance in the cell snapped. "The Kalos Queen!"

"The trainer isn't dating the Kalos Queen, Z." The mastermind growled.

"But he loves her." Z replied. "My associate has had a tail on the group. He sent the Sinnoh girl ahead to Coumarine, and stayed back in Shalour City. My associate has told me that the boy has been with the Kalos Queen in secret, under the cloak of night. In fact, my associate has just alerted me that about 10 minutes ago, the boy and the Kalos Queen had a fight."

"And how does this help me?" The mastermind growled.

"Because his last words to her were very interesting, my friend." Z taunted. "Would you like to know what they were?"

"What do you think?" The mastermind growled. Z pissed him off, and he would love nothing more than to kill him, but, as much as he hated it, he needed Z.

"He said 'You were always my first choice. Always have been and always will be.'"

"Interesting is right." The mastermind mused. "Fine. I'll take your word for it." The mastermind turned to his man. "Once they all get to Coumarine, abduct the Kalos Queen and bring her to Z's associate."

"Yes sir." The man left to carry out orders.

"If you are wrong and Xerosic cannot handle this, I will rip him apart. And then I'll come for you." He threatened.

"Mrow." The creamy, panther-like Pokémon purred. The mastermind chuckled to himself as he stroked the cat.

Clemont walked into the TV room the next morning and almost cringed. The tension in the room was high, it set him on edge. Clemont looked around. Serena was at the table eating breakfast and Ash was by the couch, angrily flipping through his cell phone. Pikachu was flattened against the couch looking back and forth between Ash and Serena, extremely scared and confused.

"Yikes." Clemont muttered to himself, backing out. Pikachu saw him and sprinted over, jumping into Clemont's arms, burying his face into Clemont's shoulder. Clemont shut the door behind him and glanced down at the small mouse Pokémon.

"Pikachu." Pikachu whined. Clemont scratched the rodent on his head, sympathetic towards him.

"Come on Pikachu, let's go get food somewhere else."

"Pi pika." Pikachu answered. Clemont remembered seeing a smaller living area on the second floor and went in that direction.

"Clemont, where are you going? And why do you have Pikachu?" Korrina asked, confusion twisting up her face.

"Don't go in the main room. There's enough tension in there to make Arceus itself fold with fear." Clemont muttered. Korrina still looked confused. "Something bad happened between Ash and Serena. They're sitting in there not talking to each other and being angry."

"Oh wow," Korrina muttered. "I think I'll join you then."

"Good choice." The two of them started walking once again. They entered the secondary living room side by side, and were amazed to see that Gurkinn was in there eating a bagel and flipping through a book about battle strategies. He was probably doing research so he could finish training Korrina's brother to be a gym leader.

"Grandfather, good morning." Korrina said, a little surprised to see him.

"Good morning Korrina, Clemont. I assume you tried to go into the main family area?"
