"And now, we ask Naomi and Ash to take their places on the battlefield, as in a few short minutes, the Gloire City Pokémon Battle Tournament's final match will commence!" The announcer yelled into his mic.

Ash and Naomi, taking their cue from either of their arena staff walked out into the stadium to an explosion of noise. Ash searched the stands until he found her sitting in the top box with the rest of his friends. He always looked for Serena before a battle. It helped calm him down.

"This will be a three on three battle. The match is over when all of either sides Pokémon are unable to continue. Substitutions are allowed. Trainers, please bring out your first Pokémon."

"Haxorus! I choose you!" Naomi yelled, tossing the pokeball out. The dragon type appeared with a mighty roar.

Haxorus huh? Lucario grumbled to acknowledge her trainer. He tossed a pokeball out without a sound. Charizard appeared seconds later, roaring back to answer Haxorus's challenge.

"Battle begin!"

"Haxorus use Dragon Pulse!"

Fly up! Lucario barked and Charizard jumped into the sky, huge wings unfurling. The dragon attack missed and blasted against a wall.

Flamethrower. Lucario barked again and a huge column of flame burst from Charizard's maw, entrapping the dragon type. When the torrent of flames disappeared, small flames came off of Haxorus, indicating a burn.

Nice. Ash thought.

"Haxorus!" Naomi shouted worriedly. Her brother was really strong. She started to get scared she'd lose.

"Jump up and use Hyper Beam!" Naomi commanded, trying to get level with the flying Charizard. Her Pokémon took a great leap and charged up the powerful move, unleashing it with close precision. The beam of purple and black light sped towards Charizard too fast to dodge, and Haxorus landed a direct hit. Ash grimaced, it was the first worried emotion he'd ever shown in the competition. She was pretty damn strong.

Dragon Tail. Lucario barked his command and Charizard's tail started to glow green and got longer, and holographic scales appeared down the length. Charizard sped towards Haxorus faster than the eye could follow. All you could really see was a green streak of light. Then the streak flipped around and slammed down on the top of Haxorus, sending the dragon type rocketing towards the ground. The impact was so loud, it sounded like three or four cannons went off at the exact same time. People in the stands were covering their ears and wincing.

"That was a powerful move! Let's see if Haxorus survived it!" The announcer yelled. The audience was waiting patiently for the dust cloud to dissipate so they could see the wreckage.

Once the dirt cloud cleared, it was plain to see that Haxorus had fainted. The ref made the call and Naomi called her Pokémon back.

"Absol I choose you!" She sent out her Pokémon, and the dark type roared a challenge to Charizard.

"Mega Evolve!" Naomi commanded, grabbing the necklace she wore. Streams of light connected Naomi and Absol as the dark type grew wings and a deadlier scythe. Once the evolution was complete, Absol growled. Ash smirked and grabbed his Keystone. Charizard roared as the stones connected, and he took on his mega evolution.

"Damn!" Naomi said. "I forgot he could Mega Evolve Charizard."

Flamethrower. Ash commanded. Lucario relayed her trainer's instructions to Charizard, who's mouth starting glowing blue to signify that the powerful fire type move would be released.

"Dodge it!" Naomi commanded quickly. Absol leapt out of the way, avoiding the attack. "Use Ice Beam!" A jagged blue light exploded from Absol's mouth, racing towards Charizard. Ash couldn't tell Charizard to dodge fast enough, and the powerful attack made impact.
