Serena awoke to sunlight streaming in. Sighing, she pulled off her covers, immediately regretting that decision. It was freezing! And it was supposed to be summer! Serena sighed, yawning as she continued the torture of getting out of bed when it's cold.

"Hey guys." She muttered to her Pokémon. They had stayed out that night, but were all curled up together because of the cold. Her Pokémon chorused a response, stretching. Serena grabbed pokeballs and had all of her Pokémon return except for Ninetales, who refused to go in her pokeball as long as Serena was still here. She scratched the loyal fox Pokémon behind her ears and sighed once more, digging through her pack to put her slightly warmer clothes on.

She wore a light blue button up chambray shirt, with her grey tank top underneath, black leggings, her grey socks and brown boots, and a white sweater. On her head she had her dark pink hat, and she decided to leave her long blonde hair down, with no braids or ponytails today.

"Come on Ninetales." Serena muttered, walking to the door and opening it. Giovanni had allowed her to eat in the dining hall, or he just didn't give a shit, because she had been meeting Naomi there for the last couple of days. The guards posted at her door followed her to make sure she didn't try to escape, and she pushed open the door to the dining hall.

Naomi was in her usual corner, the dining hall nearly evacuated. The grunts had eaten earlier, they were expected to be up and done eating by 7:30. Work started at 7:45 for them.

"Hey Serena." Naomi said when she sat down. Serena nodded a hello and grabbed a piece of fruit and some bread. Ninetales sat at the end of the table.

"Is there still Pokémon food?" Serena asked. She has some in her bag, but she's not entirely sure if she had enough for all of her Pokémon. Naomi nodded.

"Randal, go get some bowls of Pokémon food. But remember to get the one that has Hanapa berries in it." Serena sighed and glanced away.

"I know, but pretty soon you won't have to give it to your Pokémon anymore. Ash should be here in the next couple of days. You said they were coming from Ambrette Town, right?" Serena nodded, taking a bite of Pinap Berry. "Then they should've entered the foothills by yesterday. If Jessie and James are actually leading them true, he should be here in about two days."

"Really?" Serena couldn't believe that in two days, this hell would be over. Sure it was pretty, and she had a nice room and good food and the permission to wander around the compound, but it was still hell, no matter what pretty ribbon is put on top of it. In fact, the pretty hells are usually the worst kind.

"Yup. You'll be back in Ash's arms soon enough." Naomi muttered, comforting the younger girl. Serena smiled softly, imagining his strong arms wrapped around her and his soft, but rough, lips on her own. His calloused hands tangled in her hair. The safety he brought to her. She'd be home soon. Serena twisted the keystone ring around her finger as she thought of the damage she could wreak on this place with Ninetales. Naomi didn't miss the movement.

"Is that what I think it is?" Naomi whispered. Serena looked up and nodded. "Wow, the grunts who escorted you to your cell the first day were dumbasses. They should've confiscated it, and the mega stone your Pokémon wears." Serena smirked and nodded, glancing at Ninetales. "Who's it for?" Serena nodded towards her cream colored fox. "Really? It's a new one then?" Serena nodded once more. "That's amazing." Naomi whispered. "Keep them hidden here at all costs."

"Don't worry. I do." Serena muttered. She was not about to let these idiots take her keystone and mega stone away. It was her and her Pokémon's greatest power, and a symbol of their strong bond.

"We've been walking for a day and a half. Where's the compound?" Ash exploded suddenly.
