A few days later, they were arriving in Anistar City. "Luca said they're by the sundial! Let's go!" Bonnie exclaimed, running off. The gang laughed and followed her. Gary and Ash kind of hung back a little, not going as fast as the others. Gary watched up ahead to see that Serena was far enough away, then he pulled the box out and handed it back to Ash.

"Here Ashy-boy. I haven't gotten a chance to give it back to you." Ash took the ring and sighed, relieved, slipping it into his jacket pocket.

"Thank you." Ash croaked. Gary's eyes widened.

"Don't talk man, your throat!" Gary exclaimed. Ash nodded as best he could with the brace and pulled out his pad and paper.

I know. I just need to practice a little bit every day, like a couple words here and there. I want to be able to speak to her when I propose.

"What do you mean?"

The Master Class is in a week and a half. The doctors told me not to speak for 2 and a half to 3 weeks, because the swelling was so bad. But I want to propose to her, on stage, if she wins that Master Class performance, like I think she will.

"I see. But forgive me if I root for Dawn, alright?" Ash shrugged.

Root for them both. He wrote. I will, even though I want Serena to win.

"Yeah okay." Gary agreed. "I'll root for both, but I want Dawn to win."

"Whatever you say bud." Ash said hoarsely. Gary rolled his eyes, but said nothing else about it. The two of them got to the sundial about a minute after the rest of the gang. Bonnie was smiling huge, standing next to Luca.

"Ash!" Luca and Lyla exclaimed at the same time, going over to him. Ash waved.

"I hope your neck feels better." Lyla said, her big brown eyes sparkling. Ash nodded in thanks.

"Whoa! You have a Lucario?!" Luca exclaimed, catching sight of the aura Pokémon. She decided she hates her pokeball, and now travels in the same fashion as Pikachu, except she doesn't ride on Ash's shoulder. Ash nodded.

"He's so cool! I've always wanted one. I even left room on my party if I ever come across a Riolu or a Lucario in the wild."

Master, I'm a girl! Lucario sent to Ash. He wanted to laugh at her indignant tone.

Tell Gary. Ash replied. I can't speak. Lucario rolled her eyes, but walked over and tugged on Gary's sleeve. Luca was watching in interest.

Lucario got Gary's attention and pointed at Luca, shaking her head.

"What?" Gary asked, mystified. Lucario yipped. Gary glanced at Ash and Serena, who were amused.

Tell him in your thoughts Lucario. Serena said gently. Lucario shook her head.

I can't access his thoughts. He's not my trainer, and we're not close enough. Serena giggled. She could say something of course, but she kind of enjoyed teasing Gary. Lucario huffed, crossing her arms.

"Lucario, what do you want?" Gary asked. "Help me!" He exclaimed, turning Serena. She just giggled and shook her head, a mischievous glint in her eyes. Gary rolled his eyes. Lucario pointed at Luca, shook her head, then pointed at Serena and nodded. Gary was still confused. Clemont, however, got it. His face lit up.

"She's trying to tell you to tell Luca that she's female." Clemont laughed. Luca's eyes widened, as did Lyla's.

"Female Lucarios are so rare!" Luca exclaimed. "That's so cool!" Serena giggled.
