They have been waiting for 10 minutes. Fareez is busy enjoying the food served while Syahmi is sitting there anxiously. His rubs his forehead like overthinking something.
"Hey, Syahmi. You should eat! It's rare for people to give food for free nowadays, you know!" ask Fareez while enjoying his pasta.
"I didn't help them for this, Fareez. It was just a coincidence!" replied Syahmi, still anxious.
After the police came yesterday, both the thieves are caught. Syahmi got many cheers are praises from the customers there. But somehow, Syahmi dislikes that. Before the incident during the world class taekwondo tournament last year, he accepts every praise he gets. But not anymore.
Other than that, he is also interviewed by media. Interrogated by police until midnight. His eyes are red and watery when he woke up the next morning.
"Syahmi? Why are you crying?" is the first question his mom asked when Syahmi went down to the living room. Syahmi is not used to sleeping late. The latest was around 12 or 1 in the morning but last night was too much. He slept at 3. He needs to wear black sunglasses 24/7 to hide his eyes. Thank god I look stylish in these glasses.
"Fareez, he said at what time he wants to see us here?"
"2 o'clock."
"It's 2.15 ." said Syahmi while looking outside through the window of the cafe. Because of his help yesterday, Syahmi and Fareez are celebrated by the staff. The manager of the cafe also came out to thank them personally.
"He'll come soon. Just be patient!" continued Fareez while feasting on his pasta. Syahmi on the other hand is playing arounf with his blue flippers. He wears it and then kicks it away. Brings it back in and the cycle repeats.
Then, they heard someone calling for them. Their focus is now at the man they met yesterday. Wearing the same black glasses standing beside their table.
"Ehemm.. sorry I'm a little late. Got some work to do." said the man while shaking Fareez's and Syahmi's hand. Fareez stopped eating. Syahmi wear back his slippers.
"OK, I think I already know both of you. Ahmad Fareez and Muhammad Syahmi."
Wow, he knows my full name.
"But both of you don't know who am I yet, right?" asked the man.
They both nodded. Filled with curiosity. The man in his 20s puts a plastic file on the table before explaining his identity.
"I'm Detective Hazim who is working for the Special Unit for the Malaysia's Police Force. Well, atleast once worked there."
Fareez and Syahmi faced eachother before looking back at Detective Hazim.
"What do you mean, detective?" asked Fareez.
"Means, I was once a police. But people still calls me detective."
"Owh."
"Special Unit? You mean like special agents?" asked Fareez in his curious voice.
Detective Hazim nodded. "We handle cases that are bizarre. Cases that are hard. Cases that are different from the normal cases."
"So, why do you want to see us, detective?"
"Actually, I have been searching for you for a long time, Syahmi."
"Searching for me? For what?"
"If I'm not mistaken. That finisher you did yesterday, is called the death spin. Am I right?" Syahmi nodded. "Your time has come."
"Huh? What are you talking about, detective? The time has come for what? How did you know about the death spin?" Syahmi's curiosity has reached its limit. Detective Hazim smiled. Not everyone knows about that kick that can be fatal. Those who are a master of it can only do it.
"Actually, what I'm about to tell you is highly classified but meh, noone cares anyway. It's classified but if the whole world knows it doesn't really give an impact towards us." said Detective Hazim while opening the plastic file.
"This is one of the secret files I manage to keep before I was stopped from being a special agent. It's like this. Every four years there will be a tournament if martial arts. The champion of the tournament, who is also a millionaire, is the most wanted by police in Malaysia. Malaysia's most wanted. Here, this is his picture."
Fareez and Syahmi took a closer look of the profile and the picture.
Name : Zarith @ Cobra
Age : 45 years old
Nationality : Malaysian
Crime : stealing, killing, drug dealing, firearm dealing (it continues to the next page like ffs this guy has so many crimes)"OK, so what's the problem detective?" asked Syahmi.
"The problem is, I can't arrest him because he is so god damn hard to find. The only way to find him is during this tournament. There are no definite proof for his crimes. So that's why he's left running around."
"Uhh.. but just now you said you are stopped from being a special agent. So why keep on searching for this guy?" asked Fareez.
Detective Hazim smiled. "Let's just say I've got a score to settle."
"So, why do you need us?"
The tournament is team - based. So, I want to recruit pro fighters all over Malaysia. The best of the best. And Syahmi, you're my number one choice."
Syahmi was stunned. The more he tries to go away, the closer it gets. "But now, you're not a special agent anymore, right? So you're telling us we're gonna catch this guy illegaly?"
"Not illegally. But as a normal citizen." replied Detective Hazim.
"Actually detective, I really want to help. I know this is a big matter. But, I have left fighting a long time ago. If possible, I don't even want to get involve in any of these. Last night, I need to do it." said Syahmi.
Detective Hazim smiled again. He leaned his body onto the chair.
"What if you need to do it too for this one?" asked Detective Hazim. "Actually I need to tell you this earlier but.. well here goes nothing."
Syahmi and Fareez waited patiently.
"Actually last night, I knew that was a death spin just by a glance, because..
...I know your father. And I know what happened to him"
