The weather is scorching hot outside. Sweat is starting to cover Syahmi's body when he is sweeping the backyard. I guess it's also good the weather's hot today. The laundry will dry faster. And when I get inside all sweaty, I switch on the air conditioner, take off my shirt and watch TV. Yeah!!
That is Syahmi's routine since the first day he's on a holiday. His mother is a Mathematics teacher at a nearby school. Comes home around 2 or 3 in the evening. Works about half a day. His little sister is also studying at the same school where his mother teaches. If his dad is still here, he will come home with his own meal. Yes, he's a cook. A cook at the canteen where his wife work and his daughter studies, SK Bakti Jaya. When he comes home, he always comes home with Ema by his side.
While waiting for calls from engineering companies, Syahmi thinks he needs to help his mother. Wash the clothes, clean the house, cook meals. He's a master at those.
His phone rang. Singing the song Alone by Marshmello. His friend's name is displayed on the screen. Fareez. The call is answered.
Fareez : Hello? Bro, where are you?
Syahmi : Hey, Fareez! I'm at home. Why?
Fareez : I thought so! Let's go hang out somewhere! It's been a while since I met you.
Syahmi : When? Where?
Fareez : Tonight at the Jaya Bakti Cafe.
Syahmi : Alright. Want me to bring anything?
Fareez : Bring extra money! I'm not gonna pay for your meals again like last time, Syahmi!
Syahmi : Hahahaha. Sure, Fareez.
Fareez : Haha. Alright. See you soon!------------------------
"Mum, I'm leaving!" said Syahmi before taking the car keys on the table.
"Okay! Take care. Send my regards to Fareez too." she answered. Syahmi nodded and walks out. A black Myvi once owned by his father is brought out and he leaves to his destination.
A couple of minutes passed. Syahmi arrived. Jaya Bakti Cafe is right infront of him. He goes out of his car and enters the cafe. His eyes are looking around for someone he has not seen for a long time. A guy with white hair at the front with a black hoodie is waving towards him. Fareez!
Syahmi sat down infront of him. The cafe is quite huge. There are about 20 tables for customers especially tables for six. Every table has a glass surface and a silver stand. Very elegant. A chandelier hung up in the middle lights up the whole cafe.
A few meters from their table is the cashier counter. A safe and a cash register is located behind the counter. It is guarded by a waiter wearing a nametag written Ana.
A male waiter came to their table, giving them two menus. Syahmi and Fareez made their choices.
"What do you want to eat?" asked Syahmi.
"I probably want a chicken chop."
"Well okay. Mine's the same as you"." Fareez nodded as a sign saying 'OK'. Then he ordered orange juice and Syahmi ordered hot coffee."Haha.. okay Syahmi. You've done your degree right? You must be a hot stuff there. Am I right?" said Fareez.
"Nahh.. there's no such thing as hot stuff there. I'm normal." Syahmi denies. "How about you?"
"I'm also on a holiday. I have one more semester to finish and then I'll graduate." explained Fareez. He stayed quiet for a while, trying to remember something. "Oh yeah, Syahmi! Have you been to Pusat Perkasa?"
Syahmi nodded.
"How's the place now?"
"Hehe. When I came there, Sir Roslan still keeps the key under the doormat." Fareez laughed. Between all the trainees there, only both of them know Sir Roslan's secret.
It all started when Fareez left his phone in the training room. Both of them rushed back to their training place. When they arrived, they saw Sir Roslan putting something under the doormat after he locked the door. When they checked, it was actually the key for the door.
"Was Sir Roslan there when you came?" asked Fareez.
"Yeah, he was. He freaking ambushed me. I was so shocked. Our coach is still strong as ever. Thank god I didn't gave him a death spin. If not.." Fareez laughed so hard while holding his stomach. "He also said Pusat Perkasa has been closed down. Since many trainees are leaving they don't have money to pay the rent. The trainees also didn't bring back any medals."
"Hmm.. yeah. Back then we both stole all the medals right?" said Fareez while laughing proudly.
"Sir Roslan also decided to give Pusat Perkasa to me." said Syahmi
Pfffffftttttt!!!
Orange juice came dashing out from Fareez's mouth. Thank god Syahmi managed to avoid the 'attack'. Syahmi went silent. Man, Fareez changed a lot.
"Hahahah sorry. I was shocked. Meh, if I were you, I'll except his offer on the spot!" Fareez continued his discussion. Syahmi looked at his chicken chop, checking if the orange juice hit it. Fareez is also doing the same thing.
"Hmm.. actually I wanted to accept his offer. But.. since my last tournament..." sighed Syahmi.
"Ughh.. Syahmi you know it's not your fault right? The whole world knows it was just an accident. The past is in the past, bro." Fareez tried to calm Syahmi down.
Syahmi took a deep breath. Now his focus is towards his chicken chop.
