Chapter eleven, I've known Kevin since grade seven
We are OTP. Really Alex? I mean I know you aren't a poet. I still remember when you wanted to be one but.. No. Just no. Anyhow I kept reading it. Just wow Alex. When I was almost done I heard her storm through the door and run into her room. I don't know why she does everything in a flourish, but hey she does and that is fine. I kept reading and by the end I felt like throwing up.
You see this is why I have her go over everything with me. I could make this a lot better if only she let me help her. Also why didn't she tell me? Is she using dip pens again? God save us all if so. A few minutes after Alex had ran upstairs I heard her run back down. I was done with the letter but I kept it up so hopefully she wouldn't give me that death stare she's known for.
But soon her feet stopped and I felt like the note was going to catch on fire.. Yea. Death stare. I slowly lowered it as I watched her glare. "Hey I saw it when I went back for the rest of your laundry and got curious." I told her. She flipped her hair out from behind her ear and yelled "that doesn't give you the right! That's my private property, it could have said I have cancer or some crap!!" I crumpled the letter and threw it at her. She's already pissed and I doubt there's going to be any going back. Might as well win.
"Well hey its not my fault you have a crappy love life! I was just trying to make sure you don't ruin the only thing you have going for you!" I protested. She looked like she was going to kill me. One thing you should remember about her is that when she fights: she. Always. Wins. No matter the cost. And just to my luck, she snapped. "WHAT RIGHT DO YOU HAVE IN ANY OF MY RELATIONSHIPS?! I MEAN FOR FUCKS SAKE THE LAST GUY YOU DATED TURNED OUT TO BE A DRUNKEN IDIOT!" Alex stormed off to her room and slammed the door.
I can't believe she went there. She knows that's a touchy subject and she frickin went there. I grabbed my coat, slid on my flats and ran out. I'm done. I am so done with her bull! All I wanted to to was be a good friend, but no. Everything just has to be about her doesn't it? Other people have problems. She is so overdramatic and just doesn't get it.
I walked down the street until I was around the elementary school. I kept walking until I saw a familiar face; Lauren Laubsch.. Or however you spell that confusing name. I yelled to her from the sidewalk and she gestured over. "Hey, laubchen, how've you been, its literally been forever since I saw you last." I said, sitting besides her on a bench. "Oh nothing, just bringing my kids to the closest park," she laughed.
I completely forgot that we all did that! When we were kids our parents wouldn't drive to the next city over just to go to a playground, so we just went here. I miss those days. I mean it was always me, her, and Alex coming here together, one Happy family. That is until Lauren got married and Alex went to college. Life kinda fell apart after that. Plus, when we became juniors Alex and Lauren got into this huge fight, they haven't been the same since.
While they where off doing their things, I bought my house with this guy, Adrian. Alex was at Harvard learning to do whatever. We got it because it had two bedrooms, two offices and a bathroom on the top floor then a living room, kitchen and spare bedroom on the bottom floor. The second floor was for the child that we planned on having. But soon that relationship fell apart because he became a heavy drinker.
Every night he'd come home completely wasted and end up sleeping I'm the guest room. I put up with it, until Alex came home and kicked him out. Like I said, she always wins. And after we sent all of his things to his mom and Alex moved in. We had that going for months. And then there's Lauren. She just cut connections with us after Alex got thrown out of her wedding because she's a "bad influence."
So I caught up with Lauren. Apparently she's had two kids named Jack and Rose, and is happily teaching kindergarten. Its funny how life happens. One day you're three amigos, inseparable no matter what happens, and one day you just aren't anymore. I mean, Alex and I are still best friends but she's always been distant. Its her thing I guess.
I caught Lauren up on the drama though. She listened to every last word of it. I literally told her everything that has happened since we were 19 and stopped talking. About the band (even though we broke up a while back), about Adrian about Scott and oli and YouTube and about today. She kept her focus on me (except when her daughter came up to us and sassed me) throughout all of it. She hugged me tight and told me that she will always stand beside me.
After a while we had completely caught up. She told me everything and I her as well. It was so great, because Alex knows everything about me, but is so blinded by her own bias that it just doesn't get through to her. I love Alex, but she's just a lot. And I don't think I want to talk to her for a while.. She's just so dramatic. Sometimes I love that but right now it's just too much.
But soon Lauren had to take her kids home and I went home myself. We hugged and said goodbye before walking off in separate directions. The wind seemed to be intentionally hitting me as hard as it could today. That's always how it is. Its like the whole town knows that something happened and is making me feel worse.
I soon got to my house and walked in. Alex was in her room, playing music as loud as she wanted. I chose not to tell her to turn it down, considering she'd probably throw something at me. I went to my mint-green themed room and scrolled through YouTube, watching Scott videos until I fell asleep.
Chapter eleven, but Kevin's in heaven.
