(Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! It's my second favorite holiday so I don't care whether or not you celebrate. I wasn't going to update, but a certain Australian ((who is super cool and knows that this is in reference to them)) has been awesome and reminds me to update)

thirty six, you can't handle this

I finally proposed to Jess and I am absolutely gone. It's so hard to describe, but rather than feel happy, I'm just empty. Not in the depressing way, I just can't beleive this is happening. Like everything has led up to this moment and I didn't do anything special.

A few weeks prior Oli and I got slightly... intoxicated. We went all around town, and this is also when he got Alex's birthday present so you see where this is going. Anyways, I thought it would be a good idea to get a ring for Jess, so I did. All this time it's been in my office hidden in a game. I didn't remember to bring the box, so I just kept it in my pocket. All it is is a silver band tied in a knot, But I love it. Actually, I never really planned when it would happen, I just brought it with it with me wherever we went

It all happened so quickly. Me and her had been walking in the park not to far from our house when I saw the perfect location. It was this grand oak tree that was bright red from fall. As we walked towards it I began preparing what to say. Honestly, I couldn't have possibly prepared worse for it. Most guys (or girls) make note cards and write a speech; not me, I guess.

I stopped on the path and dragged her closer to the tree. "Callum, what are you doing?" She laughed as she asked me. It was the kind of laugh someone dos when they don't want to show how worried they are. I smiled as I begun my spiel.

"Jess Hedly, I have spent so much of my life with you, and I want to spend the rest of it with you as well." She stood, shocked, as I knelt down before her. "So, do you want to tie the knot?" I asked, realizing the amazing pun I could make with the ring. She smiled the biggest smile I'd ever seen someone smile. Yea, that intense.

The whole world paused as I waited for an answer. Eventually, after what seemed like three years, she nodded and held her arms out. I smiled as we did the cheesy just engaged thing. You know, lift her up, spin around, hug, kiss. The whole deal. We stood and stare into each other's eyes, foreheads together. Until we heard slow clapping behind us.

We turned to see Alex and Oli. I didn't really know what to do so I just stood there waiting for what they'd say. "Well, well, well. What do we have here?" Alex asked, smirking. I guess it was a rhetorical question because they walked up to us and showered the both of us in praises. They hugged Jess and high fived me, telling us they were so proud.

Alex pulled something out of her pocket and handed it to me. "Joel and Lizzie gave it to us incase something happened and they needed backup. It's tickets to France as well as how to sign into the hotel they're at," She explained. "Since the trip is almost over and we don't plan on going, you guys can head out there." I took the envelope from her and smiled. All seems right in the world at this moment.

Eventually we left, and that's how we wound up here in France. Long story short,  some guys broke in here and everyone is mad at us. I figured I should apologize, so I texted Joel.

Callum: dude I didn't know you'd be mad, Srry :(

Joel: Honestly Idc, but Liz would have gotten mad at me otherwise

Callum: We good?

Joel: Yea, just lay low.

Callum: Oh btw, Lizzie left her phone in here, I think lily called

Joel: Okay well I gtg, toss it onto my balcony.

I walked out there to see them both sitting on the porch, so I had Jess follow. Instead of getting mad they just congratulated us on the engagement. I guess Lizzie is too flustered to stay mad, so that's good. We talked all night and the fight got left behind. All conflicts disappeared as we talked about our lives and when we want the wedding.

So, in the end, our moral is that there isn't a fight that can't be resolved without talking. I just wish Alex and Lily would realize that. eventually we walked around their room and had some champagne.  All in all, the night was intense but great.
