Over 90% of farmed animals in the western world - including Canada - are factory farmed. 1-5% are not.

Even if there were more family run farms (Organic, Free-range, Humane) CAFOs (confined animal feeding operation) have specific regulations for sizing of enclosures/jail cells for each species of animal

Even if there were more family run farms (Organic, Free-range, Humane) CAFOs (confined animal feeding operation) have specific regulations for sizing of enclosures/jail cells for each species of animal. Most farms follow the bare minimum as its more convenient for the farmer. There is information on Canadian government sites or wherever your from - all of which is publicly accessible information, by the way -

Even tho this next video is long Emily has put hundreds of hours of work into making this information readily available. It's most certainly an eye opener as she only talks about standard farming practices, not isolated events. Setting aside time to watch the whole thing would be amazing but if you can't she always has time markers in the description box.

You seeing a couple small family farms doesn't change the fact that the vast majority of animals on this planet are treated horrifically because they're considered "just food/ objects/ animals". Keep in mind when visiting a small family farm (or anywhere your a potential buyer) they aren't going to show you their dirty laundry... they won't show you them killing the old useless animals, the calves torn away from their mothers, the male calves being killed for veal or beef & the male egg industry chicks being killed before 72hrs of life. Maybe the farmers themselves don't even do the killing, but they send the animals elsewhere to be killed and that can't be avoided, even at the most humane, free-range, organic farms.

Some farmers may even claim they 'love' their animals, and "that doesn't happen on their farm"... but as I already stated factory farms account for the vast majority of farms; not everyone buys organic, free-range, humane eggs from old Macdonald's farm.

Even if everyone wanted to buy free-range it's actually impossible

And the bottom line for vegans isn't to improve the animals living conditions but to stop doing what we are doing to them because there is no need for it.
