It was our first Friday game of the tournament and that sucked dog shit cause I couldn't walk two feet without feeling like throwing up. That was my big welcome into the adult world, great! I looked over to the other bed and Jeremy was still sprawled out, dead asleep. Just. Fucking. Great. He was the one supposed to wake me up, not me waking him up. I'm not meant for this type of shit.

I groaned and got out of bed and walked over to his. A good slap would wake him up right? I raised my hand and was about to bring it down when he spoke.

"Don't you even think about it." He said,

"I'm up."

"Get your lazy ass out of bed then." I said with a smile, ripping his sheets off the bed. I made my way, or should I say stumbled my way, to the shower and let the cold water run all over me. I got out a little more refreshed and went down to the lobby for breakfast.

"I must say Aidan, today is a record for you." Avery said as I joined them,

"It's only 9 and you're awake."

"Fuck off." I said, pouring some coffee for myself.

"Or maybe it's cause you're excited that I'm gonna be back on the field." He said with a smirk.

Fuck! I had completely forgotten about that. Avery's suspension was over and he would play again. The question was whether or not he would really sacrifice everything we had worked for as a team so that someone could hurt me on the field.

"I hope we cool?" I asked.

"We're far from cool." He replied,

"But we good on the field."

"Wouldn't want it any other way." I said with a fake smile. I got up and went to the buffet line and got my food.

Coach made the first team go watch Carroll High's game. He was so convinced it would come down to the two of us, although we were second last in the league.

Dubeau Academy was one of those teams I was surprised had made it that far. It was a magical school, so maybe they were using magic to win. Or maybe they were actually good at athletics and had made it this far without cheating.... Nah, they definitely used magic.

Carroll used our strategy or kicking off and Dubeau received the ball. They had a pretty good QB. He had a good arm and great accuracy, but he was super frail. He was a skinny guy and if he got hit more than once, he would be injured. They had a pretty weak offense, although one of their receivers was one of the fastest mortals I had ever seen in my life. Although they had a weak offense, they had a stacked defense. One of their players, a linebacker and the defensive captain Riley Mahoney, was one of the best players I had seen play at that position in this competition. He was even better than Jeremy and Martin. He had an eye for what the quarterback had in mind and he led in tackles and interceptions.
