Warnings: its long
Y/m= your mutation

"Let's get married" you giggled as you swung around holding Charles' hands.
"Father says we're too young to get married." He giggled out holding you tight.
"Then let's get married when we're older." You tackled him to the ground, both of you a giggling mess.
"I love you and I promise to marry you as soon as I can." He held your hand.
"Really, you promise?" Your face lit up with excitement.
"I promise y/n!"
"I wove you Charlie!" You squealed and cuddled him.
You lie under Charles' favourite tree and watched the clouds turn into funny shapes.

You and Charles were the best of friends always sticking to eachother like glue.
But when your great aunt passed away and left a masion in England in your family's name, you had no choice but to move away.
You and Charles had to be separated on the last day when you were moving which was extremely painful.
The day was full of screaming and tears.
You spoke nothing the whole time on the plane, nor did you speak a single word when you got to your new home.
You wouldn't eat, you'd barely sleep and wouldn't say a word. Not even a smile on your face until you got a letter from Charles.

Many years went by and you still hadn't seen each other, your love soon faded and promises were forgotten. It was true, Raven replaced you, the hole that you left in Charles' heart was filled. You didn't have a grudge against her, you actually thanked her for being there when you couldn't but, you couldn't help but feel forgotten.
Letters went from 4 a week to 2 a fortnight.
You didn't even know what kind of man Charles was anymore. The letters he wrote you, telling you all about the latest girl he slept with and how many women he could juggle.
He was a player now, a narcissistic arsehole.
Self absorbed and ignorant.

These past few months had gotten you down, you only got 1 letter from Charles and it was short, you had a whole pile of work to do and your parents were harassing you into meeting suitors.
They were old fashioned that way, a young rich woman in 1949 that's unmarried. Apparently that's still atrocious.

You met many suitors, none of them interested you, letters from Charles were sparse and you started receiving letters from Raven. Not that she wasn't nice and all but in all truth, you were jealous.
She was a more exquisite mutant than you, She was blue for Christ sake. Obviously Charles would like that better than y/m.
Maybe you didn't even have feelings for Charles anymore.
You used to light up whenever the mention of Charles would echo through the room but no matter if someone yells his name at you, nothing sparks up in you anymore.

It was an early Monday morning. The fog was thick and the breeze was cool, you walked out onto your balcony and tried to see through the fog, no use.
Staring out at the grey fog made you think of flour.
You slipped into a memory.

"CHARLES!" You giggled. Charles was running after you with flour all over his hands.
You grabbed a handful of flour and tossed it at him, he decided to do the same and it hit you right in the face. "You look like a ghost!" He laughed falling on the floor
You tackled him with more flour.
"I wove you Charlie." You laid on his chest
"I love you too." You laid together in a floury mess when you heard Charles's mother scream
"CHARLES FRANCIS XAVIER! AND Y/N  M/N  Y/L/N!"

You snapped back into reality when the icy breeze his your skin.
Maybe it was time to let go and move on. After all, he did seem like a dick now.
Just as you thought that, you were called down stairs to answer the door.
You threw on your normal clothes and went down the stairs straight to the door.
You opened it hesitantly.
His face struck you like lightning
Your legs were like jelly, your heart was pounding, his eyes bored into your soul.
"Charles?" Your mouth went dry and he approached you, his hands felt like silk in yours.
His warmth filled your being like sitting infront of a crackling fire.
"Y/n? Is that you." He chuckled softly.
"Oh my god!" You squealed unable to control yourself and jumped into Charles, hugging him tightly.
Then your mother came down to see all the fuss.
"Mr Xavier. My, you've grown up to be a fine man." She said closing the door pulling him in.
Your mother kept blabbering on about your life and how you've been seeing suitors and more about how the house is so welcoming and NOT TO MENTION how distraught they were to move.
'You look beautiful.' Charles mumbled in your head and you blushed.
"Mother dear, i think I'll take Charles up to the sitting room yes?" You took his hand.
"Oh, fine very well."
You led Charles upstairs and checked if the coast was clear, then ran to your room and he followed.
You flung yourself with the door as you shut it and burst out laughing.
"I haven't done something so childish in years." You laughed and Charles looked at you with these eyes that nearly paralysed you.
"So, how have you been, your letters have been quite spars." You walk over to your fireplace and light it up.
"You kind of seemed like a dick. From an outsiders point of view that is." You smirked.
"Sorry about that. I've been busy with things. It kind of makes me seem like an arsehole." Charles seemed distant.
"Charles you know you can tell me anything." You pulled him down to sit with you infront of the fire.
"Talk to me." You said as you laid your hand on his lap. Suddenly the distance and the cold was no longer there, only that warm, loving Charles that you knew.
You talked for hours and hours on end, making up for lost time.
You called in your butler and asked her some of your finest wine and he came back with the Armand de Brignac brut gold Nebuchadnezzar.
You poured the champagne and continued talking.
"You've changed so much." He poured you both another glass.
"The same can be said for you, Charles." You raise your glass and sipped it.
"Do you remember that time when we were really little and we were playing with flour in the kitchen." He laughed out.
"No way, I was just thinking about that earlier today." You placed your gentle hand on his.
"I promise I didn't read your mind to know that." He said and raised his hands in defence.
"I believe you don't worry." You sighed taking another sip of your drink.
"Mother was so angry." Charles stared off into the fire and became silent.
"Hey, I'm here for you Charles." You take his hand in yours and his eyes met yours only for a second, then back to the fire.
You knew that the Charles you knew was there now. The one you fell in love with all those years ago.
"Remember when, we were climbing your favourite tree and you fell and your grandfather had just sprinkled chili seeds around the tree so we wouldn't climb it till a certain branch was graphed. But we did anyway.
You landed on the seeds and they started to burn, so you ran over to the pond and jumped in." You held back laugh as you spoke. And a smile appeared on his face.
"Yes, then you came over and tried to help me out but, I pulled you in with me." He said as he chuckled.
The day turned into evening and you Giggled and laughed along with Charles sitting infront of the fire.
This was the feeling you felt, this was the love you had for Charles. And you knew he could feel this moment too.
He pulled you closer to him and stared into the fire once more.
"Remember when, we were kids and I promised to marry you."
"Yes, I remember very clearly." You smiled.
"I intend to keep that promise.
I thought I lost feelings for you but, all this time. You were the one my heart craved and wanted."
You were taken aback by his words
You wanted nothing more than this, or did you?
Thoughts rushed through your head and then Charles took your hand. That was when everything became clear.
"You want me to take you on as a suitor." You set down your glass.
"No, i want you to marry me right now." He laughed and he tackled you to the floor.
"Last time I remember this kind of situation it was you pinned down." You reach for his cheek and feel his smooth skin.
"Maybe it's my turn." He leans his head down to yours.
"Yes I think it is." You whispered.
"So. Will you marry me?" He whispered back.
'Can't you read my mind.'
'So, that's a yes?' He smirked
'Of course you idiot.'
He closed the gap between you and the kiss felt like it was filled with the warmth of the fire beside you.
Just as the kiss started to heat up there was a knock at your door.
You groaned and got up.
"Miss your mother and father request to see you, and Charles if you like."
You and Charles walked down the stairs to the dining room and where met by your parents.
"Y/n we have another suitor planned for you, he's from southern France, I think you'll like this one-"
"She won't need any more suitors."
Your mother and father looked at you both confused.
"She's found a perfectly suitable one right here." Charles smiled down at you and you held his hand tightly.
"I propose I would be a suitable candidate?" Charles said and squeezed your hand.
Your parents stumbled for words and your father just shrugged his shoulders in a 'why not' motion.
You grinned overjoyed and pulled Charles in for a passionate kiss.
You walked outside the room then ran outside.
"Y/n? What are you doing!?" Charles whisper yelled as you pulled him along.
"Follow me." You ran into the garden that was lit up with small fairy lights.
You pulled him into the centre of the garden and held his hands.
"This, this is the place." You spun around arms wide.
"At night, with the stars twinkling down on us." He caught you in his embrace.
"Raven can be my maid of honour." You held him tightly.
"You know how long I've been waiting for this." He kissed your cheek.
"Since we were kids." You sighed happily.
"I love you."
"I wove you too Charlie." You mimicked your child voice and you both broke out into laughter.
