Chapter Three: Crashing the Party

***Embry's POV***

The Irish won! The Bulgarian team caught the snitch but they were still too far behind the Irish to win with it. We were all overjoyed about it...well except for Ron. He kept going on and on about how Krum was an "artist." I didn't pay the slightest attention to everyone though, my mind was still on our encounter with the Malfoy's. It was like all my scars were burning again at the thought of them as I lied awake in my bed while the others joked around in the other room. They all quieted down though at the screams coming from outside the tent.

"Sounds like the Irish have their party on!" I heard George say as someone came into the tent.

"It's not the Irish," I heard Arthur's voice filled with fear and unease. "Everyone get back to the portkey! Fred, George, Ginny is your responsibility. Everyone stick together!"

"Lu!" Ginny yelled my name as I jumped out of my bed and hurried outside the tent to see Fred and George trying to pull her in the direction of the portkey. As soon as she saw me I saw relief flood her features as she allowed her brothers to drag her away while I went looking for Hermione and the others.

I don't know how long I was trying to push through tue sea of people in search of my friends but I knew that whatever was going on was bad. I looked all around me for familiar red, bushy brown, or messy black hair but I didn't see any of the sort. All I saw were strangers who were screaming for people as they ran past me. Most of them were going towards the woods where I knew there were portkeys while others apperated where they stood but all of them looked terrified.

"Harry!" I started to yell out their names like others were doing for their friends. "Ron! Hermione!"

"Sectumsempra!" I heard someone yell the familiar spell and pain filled me right away as it felt like someone cut me across my chest. I cried out in pain and fell to the ground. When I looked up I saw someone in dark robes and a silver mask looking down at me. It was the wand that gave my attacker away though, it was the same wand that'd haunted my dreams for years. He raised his wand, ready to attack again when a familiar voice yelled out.

"Stupefy!" I heard Cedric call out but before the spell could hit my attacker he was gone and Cedric was kneeling down next to me on the ground, looking over my bleeding chest. "How bad is it Em?"

"I'll be fine," I took a deep and painful breath as I silently casted the healing charm and I could feel my chest healing into a thin pink scar just like the rest that covered my body. I noticed that most people were gone now and there were many tents that were set on fire. "Are they all gone?"

"Yeah," he handed me his jacket which I gladly pulled on to cover my blood stained and torn up shirt as he helped me up to my feet. "Are you sure that you're okay?"

"I'm sure, how about you?" I looked him over but was relieved to see that he looked perfectly fine. I couldn't help but wonder if the others were lucky like him or if they'd been attacked like me. I prayed that Ginny and them were all right, I didn't want any of them to know the pains of the curses I'd grown up feeling first hand.

"I'm fine," he wrapped an arm around my shoulders as he led me towards the woods where the portkey we'd used earlier had been. "Where are the others?"

"Arthur told all of us to get to the portkey," I told him and chose to ignore the frown he gave me at my words. I assumed that he wasn't happy that the others had been able to get away and I hadn't been. It wasn't like they left me, right? "Last I saw the twins had Ginny and I was trying to find Hermione, Ron, and Harry when I got attacked. Hopefully they all made it out okay."

"Oh no," I felt Cedric tense next to me as he unwrapped his arm around me. "Embry I want you to apperate back to the Weasley's house, okay?"

"Why?" I started to panic as I looked around us but I didn't see anyone or any reason for him to have started panicking like this out of nowhere. "What's wrong?"

"I'll explain later, just go!" Cedric kissed my forehead before stepping back so I could apperate. For a moment I hesitated, not wanting to leave him alone here when it'd just been attacked by Death Eaters, but the look on his face told me to go so I did. Just as I did though I saw why he'd told me to, why he was so nervous all of the sudden.

Up in the dark sky was the Dark Mark.
