Chapter Eight: New Friends

***Embry's POV***

It's been nearly a week since the other students had arrived and nearly a week since Moody had told me about what I could fully do with me being a metamorphmagus. I hadn't talked to him or anyone about the possibility of taking away my scars since that night. My scars were a part of who I was, I wasn't ashamed of them like some people seemed to think I should be.

The week was nearly up though which meant that people were constantly entering their names in the Goblet for the tournament and the champions would be named after dinner Friday night. Cedric had told me that he was going to enter and I was excited for him but also nervous. I didn't want him to get hurt in this tournament and there was a history of kids even dying in it before. It scared me.

"May I zit 'ere?" A familiar French accent asked me Thursday as I sat in the room that the Goblet had been set up in. It was currently lunch break and I hadn't felt like eating, instead I'd decided to watch and see who all would enter today. I looked up from my book to see that it was the same blonde girl from the night the visiting schools had arrived.

"Sure," I nodded as she sat down next to me and just watched me.

"You're very beautiful." She complimented me after a few minutes of just staring at me in silence. "Are you part Veela?"

"Veela?" The term sounded familiar to me but I couldn't place where from.

"I'll take zat as a no." She laughed a bell like laugh. " 'Ow did you get 'ose scars?"

"Accident last year." I squirmed a little in unease as noise broke out across the room. I looked to see Fred and George coming in with some other Gryffindors running after them. In each of their hands were little vials of liquid. I didn't get a good feeling about this.

"Just brewed it up this morning!" George told a second year proudly.

"It's not going to work." Hermione spoke up from a few seats to my right, not taking her eyes from her book. At my friend's words Fred and George hurried over and stood on each side of her.

"And why's that Granger?" Fred frowned as she closed her book and looked at the both of them as if they were stupid, which wasn't entirely wrong.

"See that," Hermione pointed at the Age Line surrounding the Goblet. It kept any students under the age of seventeen from entering their names into the Goblet. "It's an Age Line, Dumbledore drew it himself. He's not going to be fooled by some simple aging potion."

"Oh my God," I muttered as I pinched the bridge of my nose in annoyance. How could Fred be dumb enough to think he could fool Dumbledore?

"Your friends?" The blonde chuckled softly at my expression as the twins drank their potion.

"One of them." I nodded as everyone watched them jump over the Age Line. When nothing happened the room broke into cheers and they threw the papers containing their names into the Goblet and high fives each other. That's when the flames went crazy and spat back out their papers and threw them across the room. I was about to go see if they were hurt when they sat up and everyone saw that their hair was gray and they had matching beards. They started fighting while everyone laughed at their antics but when the doors opened the room went silent.

Viktor Krum made his way into the room with a few other Durmstrong boys, a couple who I'd seen enter in the days before. He didn't hesitate in walking right up to the Goblet and throwing his name into it. As he turned to leave though his eyes scanned the room and landed on one person in particular. Hermione. With that he left with the others on his tail, all except one who made his way over to where I was sitting.

"Vat are beautiful girls like yourselves doing all alone?" He asked in a thick Russian accent as he smirked at me and the blonde still sitting beside me.

"Avoiding pigs like you." The blonde retorted before grabbing my arm and pulling me out of the room.

"Thanks," I gave her a small smile as I held my book to my chest. I knew my hair had gone a yellowish white color from my nervousness over the Durmstrong boy.

"No problem, my name's Fleur." She introduced herself to me.

"Lu," I nodded.

"Are you going to enter?" She asked as we walked down the halls together.

"I'm too young," I informed her. "I'm only fourteen."

"You seem older," she pursed her lips as if she were deep in thought.

"Have you entered?" I asked even though I'd seen her enter during lunch on Tuesday, I just wanted to change the topic seeing as how I had lied about my age.

"Oui, ze other morning." She smiled. "I 'ope zat I am picked. My 'eadmistress keeps talking like I vill."

"I'm sure you will," I assured her as I spotted Cedric coming towards us.

"Is 'e your boyfriend?" She grinned as I smiled at Cedric.

"Oui," I answered in French as Cedric reached us and kissed my scarred cheek, causing my hair to turn pink

"Ready for Potions?" He asked.

"Yeah," I nodded before turning back to Fleur. "I'll see you around some other time?"

"I 'ope so." She smiled before heading off towards some of her own friends while Cedric and I headed off towards the dungeons for class.

"Making new friends I see." Cedric raised a brow.

"She's nice," I shrugged.

"I'm sure," he squeezed my hand in his before we entered the dungeon for Snape's class.
