Chapter Twenty-Five: Trains
***Embry's POV***
The scenery blurred by without me really taking notice in it. Today the school year had ended and now everyone was returning home for the summer. It wouldn't be long before we arrived at King's Cross and I honestly didn't care. I didn't want to get off the train. I felt like if I did then I'd be leaving Cedric behind and I didn't want to do that. I wiped more tears from my eyes as I buried my face deeper into Cedric's scarf. I was wearing it along with one of his shirts and a pair of my own pants and shoes. I'd casted a charm on his clothes after his memorial that kept his scent on them so it'd be like he'd just worn them.
"Embry?" Hermione knocked on the door to the train car I was in but I ignored her. I'd been ignoring all of them when they came to try and get me to come and join them. All of them had taken turns to try and get me out but I'd locked the door and drawn the curtains so they couldn't see in. As soon said gotten on the train I'd darted into the car that Cedric and I always used and locked myself in it.
I could almost see us sitting here last year and the start of summer break. Him running his fingers through my pink hair while I rested my head in his lap. How we'd stayed hidden until the Malfoy's had left the station. Every kiss we'd shared.
"What are you thinking about?" Cedric's voice broke through my thoughts as he smiled down at me.
"How I'll survive the summer without seeing you," I sat myself up so I was sitting next to him on the bench.
"It's only a few months." He pulled me into his arms and somehow I found myself in his lap with his arms around me. "Soon enough we'll be back on this train for our sixth year."
"With you as captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team and a perfect." I pointed out.
"You'd be a perfect too if you'd accepted." He reminded me. Just a week ago Professor McGonagal had asked me to be a perfect next year but I'd turned it down, saying I wanted to focus on my studies since I'd be in classes with everyone next year. Lupin had told me that right after saying that he wouldn't be returning to Hogwarts in the fall. I'd cried for hours about him not coming back, he was like a father to me. What would I do without him there?
"How much longer until we reach the station?" I asked.
"Not long," he tucked some of my hair behind my ear, causing me to blush. "Why?"
"I love you," I whispered before kissing him softly on the lips which he quickly returned as he held me closer to him.
"I love you too," he smiled as we broke apart. "I can't wait until the World Cup. I can't wait to see you again."
"Neither can I," I gave a small frown as I felt the train come to a stop. The train stopping meant that I'd have to leave him for the Burrow which meant nearly three months away from him and confined into the same living quarters as George.
"Don't frown," his eyes met mine.
More tears flooded my eyes as I thought back to our conversation. We'd been so happy with our whole lives ahead of us and now that was all gone. I looked down at the ring on my finger as I felt the train come to a stop at the station. I took a deep breath as I picked up my bag and unlocked the door. I kept my head down as I pushed past people and no one said anything at my rudeness. They all understood that I was still in pain.
I stepped out onto the platform and glanced around. I spotted the Malfoy's waiting for Draco and when they spotted me Narcissa glared daggers while Luscious smirked at me. I tore my gaze from them and looked for Molly and Arthur who I easily spotted further down the platform. With my gaze back on the ground I headed in their direction.
"Embry." I froze at the familiar voice saying my name. Slowly, I turned around and sure enough I found myself looking at Remus who had a sad smile on his lips. Without thinking I dropped my things and jumped into his arms, burying my head into his shoulder and crying.
"It's okay," he whispered as he rubbed circles in my back.
"He's dead," I sobbed into his shirt. Remus didn't say anything as I got a sickening feeling and he apperated from King's Cross.
