Chapter Eleven: Fleur Delacour
***Embry's POV***
"Thanks," I took the hand and was pulled up to my feet, it was only then that I realized who the hand belonged to. Fleur.
"Are you alright?" She frowned as she look in my hair colors and my tear stained cheeks. I was sure that I looked like a wreck.
"Yeah, I just had an argument with some people." I bit down on my lip as George's words flashed through my mind and the hate that had filled his voice. "Sorry that I ran into you."
"No problem," she assured me as she wrapped an arm around my shoulders and led me through the mostly empty halls. "Now tell me, what iz wrong?"
"My friends don't care for my boyfriend." I tried to sum it up into that one sentence.
"Why not? He zeems like a charming boy!" She frowned.
"It's complicated." I shrugged as we sat down on a set of stairs.
"Tell me." She pressed.
"Last year I met the Weasley's after running from a...bad situation." I bit my lip. "They were all there for me, especially George and Ginny."
"Ze girl and twin?" She clarified and I nodded.
"Yeah," I picked at the hem of my shirt as I tried to figure out how to continue. "I came to Hogwarts but I was really quiet and tried to avoid other people. I was afraid that I'd get hurt again. I started to come out of my shell though and with the help of one of the professors I became a new person. It wasn't long after that that I met Cedric and we hit it off right away. George started acting differently, avoiding me and acting cold. He ended up going off on me and saying that I had too many secrets because I refused to share my past with anyone."
"For the Christmas holidays I went home with Cedric because I was still arguing with George. On Christmas though I decided to surprise all of them by going to the Weasley's for the rest of break." I smiled at the thought of that day. "Everything seemed better, George wasn't being cold to me anymore and everyone was joking around with one another. Then he asked to talk with me outside and he ended up kissing me. Ever since then its been even worse. He wanted me to pick him and leave Cedric, but I love Cedric. After my accident last year he thought it'd get me to leave Cedric or something and got mad when I didn't. He said some things that I still haven't forgiven him for."
"I'm sorry zat you've 'ad to go zrough all of zat." She gave me a hug as I wiped more tears from my eyes so they wouldn't ruin her blue silk dress.
"It's not your fault." I gave her a weak smile. "You shouldn't be stuck here listening to my story. Don't you have the first task to be worrying about?"
"Oui," she admitted. "I want to make sure you're okay zough."
"I'll be fine. Go do what you need to do!" I assured her as we both stood back up and she brushed no existing dirt from her skirt.
"I'll zee you zoon," she promised before hurrying out the main doors to return to the carriage she was staying in with her schoolmates. Just as she disappeared from sight a frustrated Hermione appeared.
"What happened?" I asked as she stormed past me and I followed behind her.
"Harry and Ron are bloody idiots!" she vented as we reached the portrait and said the password. It opened and we made our way up to our dormitory and sat on her bed. "They still refuse to speak to each other, they have me feeling like an owl!"
"They'll snap out of their stupidity soon enough." I tried to assure her as she looked up at me for the first time and her own eyes widened as she took me in.
"What happened to you?!" She took a strand of my hair in her fingers where it was still a mix of red and blue. "Have you been crying?"
"I'm fine," I shook my head.
"What happened?" She gave me a stern look that told me she wasn't going to give in until I told her.
"I went on a walk and ended up at the Whomping Willow and I sort of ran into Fred, Angelina, Lee, and...George."
"What did he say?" Her frowned deepened and her eyes narrowed.
"He said that I shouldn't be down there alone because of last year and I reminded them that I wasn't alone last year." I looked down at the scarlet bedspread. "He made a comment about how I was with Lupin and Sirius. What he said about Lupin set me off and I made a comment about him acting like Malfoy. Then he said that I've been getting close with Harry and Viktor this year and...he asked if Cedric liked sharing."
"I'll jinx his ass off!" Hermione snapped as she went to get up but I grabbed her arm to stop her.
"I jinxed him before I ran away from them." I informed her.
"What did the others say?" I knew she was asking about Fred more than Lee and Angelina.
"Fred and Lee didn't say anything. Angelina slapped him upside the head a few times to try and get him to shut up." I shrugged. "I talked with Fleur about this earlier."
"Fleur?" She raised a brow.
"She isn't bad once you get to know her." I defended my new friend. "Neither is Viktor."
"Shut it!" She threw a pillow at me as I laughed at how her face went red. Like that we went along laughing until I found myself falling asleep.
