Chapter Four: Back to School

***Embry's POV***

"Have fun this year, maybe we'll see you sooner than you think." Charlie winked at all of us as he, Molly, and Bill said their goodbyes to us at platform nine and three-quarters. It'd been a week since the incident at the World Cup which meant that all of us were headed back to Hogwarts today. In the past week though Bill and Charlie had constantly been dropping hints about something going on this year at Hogwarts and it was driving all of us crazy.

"What do you mean?" Ron asked his older brother for the hundredth time.

"I wish I could go back this year," Bill looked at the scarlet train with longing in his eyes. I just shook my head before hugging him, Molly, and Charlie goodbye and lugging my trunk towards the train. I settled into the first empty compartment that I could find since Cedric was in the perfect's compartment and Ginny was sitting with friends in her year. I'd been tempted to find Hannah and sit with her but she was more of Cedric's friend and I didn't feel that I knew her well enough to ask to sit with her. I sat my trunk on the rack and stretched out on the bench as Lark curled up on the one across from me. I could feel the train start up and pull away from the platform and was nearly asleep when I heard a familiar voice.

"Look what we have here boys, little old scar face." My eyes snapped open to find Draco smirking down at me as he stood in the doorway of my compartment with two of his fellow Slytherins behind him.

"What do you want Malfoy?" I hissed at him as I sat up.

"Oh, scar face has some bite!" He laughed with his friends as I felt my hair start to turn red. "What are you going to do? Scare us away with you ugliness?"

"No, but I'll happily kick your asses and report you to Dumbledore." Cedric appeared behind them with a scowl on his face. I swear, he always showed up at the best times.

"Back off Diggory, this doesn't concern you." Draco sneered Cedric's name.

"It does if you're harassing my girlfriend now beat it before you need Miss Pomfrey to remove my shoe from your ass." Cedric threatened them. With one last glare in my direction Draco and his friends finally left and I felt my hair change back to black as Cedric came over and sat down next to me on the bench. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, thanks for that." I rested my head on his shoulder.

"Anytime love," he kissed the top of my head. "So how was your last week of summer?"

"Quite boring compared to the World Cup." I sighed. "Are they any closer to figuring out who casted the mark?"

"Not that my dad's told me." He rubbed my arm.

"Any clue on what's going on this year? Charlie and Bill kept talking about seeing us sooner than usual and wishing they could come back this year." I looked up to see his brows furrowed in confusion.

"Not a word," he muttered. "Have you heard from Lupin?"

"Not for the past month, I'm starting to get worried for him." I admitted. "He was always writing right back to me."

"I'm sure it's all fine," he assured me. "He probably just got a new job and is busy with all of that."

Everyone clapped after the last first year was sorted into Ravenclaw and Dumbledore took his place in front of the staff table to give his annual speech. Like usual I didn't pay the slightest attention as I messed around with the sleeve of my robe out of boredom. It wasn't until the clouds at the ceiling started to rumble that I looked up to see that they were dark and a few even shooting off lightning. A flash of light though turned the clouds to ease though and all eyes went to the door.

Standing there was an older man that wore a large dark coat and had shaggy blonde hair sticking to his face since it was wet. As he limped to where Dumbledore stood and they shook hands I couldn't help but notice his right eye wasn't really there but was instead replaced by a glass one that kept shooting around to look at everything. This man defiantly didn't give off a friendly aura.

"Everyone I'd like to introduce the newest member of the staff and the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Alastair Moody." Dumbledore introduced the man and I heard whispers around me start immediately. Some talked about how he was a famous dark wizard catcher and others about how he was completely bonkors. "Now as I was saying, this year the Quidditch House Cup won't be taking place due to an event taking place here, starting in October and going on throughout the rest of the school year."

"Are you joking?" Fred's voice rose above the others of protest making some people from all the houses laugh along with Dumbledore.

"Mr. Weasley I assure you that I'm not joking. I did hear a good one the other day about an ogre, a goblin, and a witch who walk into-" He was cut off by McGonagal clearing her throat with a frown on her face. "Ah but this isn't the time. This year Hogwarts will be hosting the Triwizard Tournament. It'll be starting in October when the students from Durmstrang and Beauxbatons arrive with their headmasters. Do to the dangers in the challenges the Ministry has decided that no student under the age of seventeen may enter."

"That's rubbish!" Fred and George yelled as others yelled in agreement with them.

"Silence!" Dumbledore made the Hall go quiet. "Now tuck in." With that the food appeared on our plates and dinner began. Fully abuzz with word of the tournament.
