17 | Jealousy and fear

"Alex! Mia! Hold on!"

Whilst walking down the hallway to first period Chase called for us to stop, Mia looked at me and I shrugged so we kept walking anyway.

Suddenly Chase caught Mia's wrist and spun her around making me groan out loud and turn around as well.

Chase's face was painted with a black eye and bruises visible around it; wow those guys could definitely throw a punch.

"Listen Alex I was drunk and stupid and I'm sorry I was such a douche, I can't even put into words how sorry I am... I'm like the sorriest guy telling you how absolutely sorry his sorry ass is, I-"

"Whatever, it's over now" Mia told him, her face void of any emotion,

"So we're all good now?" he asked,

"Yeah" she answered hesitantly.

"Great I uh- I'll catch you guys later!" he said before jogging off to his next class.

"Wow, I'm really proud of how you handled that- very mature of you" I told her raising my hand for a high five, which she reciprocated,

"Thanks Lex, I'll see you soon" Mia said before she walked off too.

I walked off to AP English, the one I had with Logan and I had this sinking feeling that this was going to be awkward,

As I walked in Logan was already seated at the back and Ms. Newman was sitting at her desk waiting for the rest of her students to come in before the bell rang.

I sat down in my seat next to Logan but he didn't seem to notice, that or he didn't care.

I cleared my throat but he didn't turn around,

"Hi Logan" I said,

"...Hey" he replied and I frowned.

"Uh listen, I'm sorry you had to see what you did at the party I-"

I didn't know why I was apologising since Logan wasn't my boyfriend or anything but I felt like I owed him one.

He turned towards me, "Listen Alex I don't give a crap about who you kiss or not and you don't have to apologise to anyone, especially me, Whoop de doo I'm so freaking happy for you!" I was surprised by his sudden outburst.

"Is that a hint of jealousy I sense" I smirked,

"Oh please, get over yourself" he told me and turned away just as the bell rang.

As Mrs Newman started the lesson I turned to Logan who had a pout on his face and he looked absolutely adorable, if he wasn't mad at me I'd probably pinch his cheeks.

"Logan, Chase was drunk and he wasn't thinking straight," I whispered to him and he turned to me,

"So that kiss...didn't mean anything?" he asked so I shook my head no.

He turned around to face the board again, I was questioning whether I got through to him or not until I took a quick glance at him and the small smile that had appeared on his face.

I waved goodbye to Mia as I stepped through the front door of the house, I could faintly hear yells coming from out the back and I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

I could hear Noah and Megan's voice but I also heard three of which I did not recognize.

I got closer as I headed into the living room and I could make out some of their conversation,

"We're here to claim our land back Hunter," a voice said sternly,

"You're not welcome here anymore and neither is your gang" Noah replied,

"You made an enemy out of us last year- we haven't forgotten that" the same voice told them,

"You should watch your backs" another voice joined in,

"We're back and this time we're looking for blood".

Like a bad movie where the characters make their dramatic exit one by one three tall and masculine men dressed in smart casual clothes, walked into the living room in step, they looked a little over Noah's age.

When they spotted me standing there the one in the middle smirked,

"I don't believe I've seen you around before, and who might you be?"

"Alex, I'm Noah's sister" I narrowed my eyes at him, "and who are you?"

"My apologies; I'm Elliot Martinez this is Tobias and Marcus" he said nodding to the other two, "it's a pleasure to meet you Alex" and I nodded.

He turned back to the other two males who were now smirking deviously at him and it made my heart beat faster because I could tell that they weren't to be trusted.

"Credo che abbiamo appena trovato il nostro bersaglio" Elliot said to them and I furrowed my eyebrows. That was all he said before they walked out of the house with a loud slam of the front door.

Noah and Megan came in looking irritated but under all the annoyance I could see one emotion that really struck deep; fear.
