Stan woke up two mornings after the pterodactyl incident to a dinosaur the size of a chicken licking his face.
"Hey! What the-?" Stan shoved the baby dinosaur off of him and to the floor.
"Whasgoinon?" Bella mumbled, rubbing her eyes. Stan rolled over to get out of bed and a small crunch was heard. He stood up and looked at the bed to see the remains of an eggshell.
"Ugh, kids," Stan groaned. Bella slipped on her glasses and looked at the dinosaur for a second before screaming and jumping out of bed, clutching a blanket around her.
"It has teeth! What the hell is it?!" She yelled.
"Calm down, it's just the dinosaur from the egg I stole," Stan grinned. "It hatched!"
"What is it doing in our bed?" Bella asked with a growl.
"I think the kids might have snuck the egg there last night," Stan grumbled. Just then, Dipper and Mabel burst into the room, still in their pajamas.
"Did it hatch?" Dipper asked excitedly.
"Yup," Stan nodded. "Whaddya think it is, Dipper?"
"Hm, it looks like a compsognathus," the boy guessed.
"That's a mouthful," Mabel rolled her eyes playfully. "Let's name it Compy!"
"Fine, we named it. Now can you get it out of here?" Bella asked.
-----
As the day went on, the small Pines family learned that Compy loved to follow Stan around the shack. No matter where Stan went, the dinosaur followed.
"Ugh, it won't leave me alone!" Stan complained after Compy tried to follow him into the bathroom.
"He's imprinted on you," Bella explained. She glanced up from her book from her spot on the chair. She was curled up with her feet off the floor, watching the baby dinosaur with untrusting eyes. "It's like with ducklings. You were the first person he saw, so he thinks you're his mom."
"Well I'm not," Stan grumbled. He waved his hands at Compy. "Shoo! Go away!"
"This is what you get for stealing an egg," Bella said.
-----
Two days later, it became apparent that Compy was becoming more and more like Stan than any of them had anticipated. After only one day of the Mystery Shack being open, Compy had stolen the belongings of most of the tourists before scaring them off.
"I swear that little thing sounds like its saying 'No Refunds'," Bella noticed after Compy had scared off the last tourist.
"Ha! He isn't doin' half bad, either!" Stan laughed, watching Compy pile the loot into a pile in the corner of the gift shop. He began to approached the baby dinosaur. "Good job, Compy! Now give it here to your Mama Stan."
"Oh, now you'll be the mom," Bella rolled her eyes. However, when Stan reached out to grab the pile of money, Compy hissed and bit his hand.
"OW!" Stan yelled and quickly retracted his now-bleeding hand. "Son of a bitch bit me!"
"I told you that thing was evil now let's clean up your hand ok, ok," Bella said quickly, pulling Stan into the house part of the shack with a fearful glance at Compy.
"Grunkle Stan, what happened?" Dipper asked, looking up from writing in his book.
"That darn dinosaur bit me," Stan growled. "Won't even share his loot!"
"Well, animals are protective of their stuff," Bella said. "Kids, don't go in the gift shop until we can get rid of that thing, ok?"
"Ok, Graunty Bella," Mabel nodded.
-----
"Ok, lookie here, Compy," Stan waved his gold watch in front of the baby dinosaur. He looked up, tilting his head in interest. "Yeah, you want it? Come an' get it."
He tossed the watch into a cage a couple of feet away. Compy sniffed in its direction hopefully, but hissed and hunkered down on his pile of loot again. The Pines family groaned in annoyance.
"What more could he want?" Dipper complained from the doorway with Mabel.
"Alright, let me see your credit cards," Stan turned to Bella.
"No way! I ain't givin' anything up to that creature!" She denied, holding her arms up to her chest. Stan sighed.
"Fine," he said.
Stan pulled out his own wallet and added a few credit cards and a twenty dollar bill to the pile in the cage. That seemed to get Compy's attention. He rose from his pile of loot and dashed over to the cage, which slammed shut and trapped him inside. The family cheered, and Dipper and Mabel walked into the gift shop.
"So what are we gonna do with him?" Mabel asked.
"We could give him to that farmer guy," Bella suggested. "I've seen him with lots of weird stuff."
"Sounds like a plan," Stan grinned. He walked over to the pile of loot in the corner of the room and scooped everything up, Compy hissing at him from the cage. "And this is all mine!"
