03 | Sierra

"Okay class, we are having an activity today and you'll be working by pair." Mr. Cruz announced and everyone groan, except me I guess. I'm always mute all the time, you expect me to talk to my sosyal classmates, I don't think so.

Mr. Cruz already called half of the class and then finally he called me, "Okay, Sierra you'll be working with Donny." now it's my time to groan, I sighed in disappointment, bakit siya?

I heard his friends started teasing him and he just walks over to me and took a seat. We're basically using some fire right here, we were instructed to let the mixture inside the test tube burn using the alcohol lamp. I focused myself doing the experiment while Donny is just playing around, I didn't noticed that he is playing with the other alcohol lamp ended up rolling from the table to my school uniform skirt.

I panicked as well as my classmates, I felt the heat of the fire on my skin. "Oh shit!" one of my classmates noticed that I'm burning myself. Good thing Timothy managed to get the fire extinguisher from the corner and the last thing I remember, there's no more fire.

I was brought to the clinic because I got my skin burned but it doesn't matter really. What matters is my uniform because a new set of uniform is really expensive and I just can't afford it.

"Does it still hurts?" the nurse from the clinic asks and I shook my head. Yung uniform ko beh ang sakit. "You can have this medicine for the burned skin you got." she hands it to me and then I thank her before leaving the clinic.

Hindi naman masyadong malaki yung nasunog pero halata talaga sya, hahanapan ko nalang to ng paraan habang pag-iiponan ko muna tong uniform ko. Ang solusyon ko ngayon sa uniform ko ay lalabhan yung isang set ng uniform ko araw-araw para may magamit ako.

Good thing it was our last class and I don't have to suffer with my skirt. I head to the library dahil nga kailangan kong magtutor kay Donny, habang naghihintay ako ginawa ko nalang muna yung homework ko.

Dumaan ang isang oras, walang Donny na dumating kahit anino wala talaga. Kinalimutan ko nalang yung nagawa nya para di ako mainip, closing hours na ng library kaya umalis nalang ako at umuwi.

The whole morning iniwasan ko si Donny, I didn't make any awkward eye contact with him and even we pass by each other. The class periods went blur and now, I gotta talk to Donny because I am his tutor.

I'm in the library, reading each book spines which is piled on the bookshelves. I heard a pulled chair in front of me, I didn't notice, it was Donny. I immediately grabbed my book and started lecturing. He didn't say much to me, he just listened. Though he managed to answer 'yes' or 'no' to my questions, he looks so serious right now. He is probably not in the mood to annoy me or something. After an hour, we finished our lesson for the day and he started walking out from the library.
