09 | Sierra

It is the week after our exam week, diba ang gulo pakinggan. Lalabas ng results ng exam, medyo kinakabahan ako kasi buong week ako puyat. Last week kasi after class, I have to review Donny for three to four hours tapos pag-uwi ko sobrang gabi na. Aabutan ako ng madaling-araw kaka-review sa sarili ko kaya yun. Nagkaroon na nga ako ng best friend eh, si coffee. Beshie ko na sya.

Ngayon, nasa isang bench ako malapit lang sa hallway hawak ko yung result ng exams ko, I passed. Sobrang peaceful kasi mag-isa lang ako eh, mag-isa naman pala ako palagi. I'm reading a book that I borrowed from the library when I felt somebody sat beside me. Donny.

I raise a brow at the smiling Donny, "Hoy! Ano ba kailangan mo?" I snapped him from smiling and he finally payed attention. He rested his back on the bench and move closer to me, his muscled arm around my shoulder showing me his test papers.

He passed all his tests. I looked at him smiling with his result, I didn't know our face are close from each other. He looks at me in the eyes and travel all over my face.

"Congrats, I'm so happy for you." I interrupted and he smiled moving away as well as his arm. There was an awkward silence and finally nagsalita rin sya. "Thank you pala, I couldn't do it without you."

Ano daw? Without me? Medyo na speechless ako dun... Or ako lang yung iniiba yung storya.

"Kain tayo sa labas, libre ko." he offers at napalingon ako sa kanya, anong nakain nya? "Wag na, okay lang ako." kahiya kaya noh.

"Thank you treat ko to' sa'yo." 'Thank you treat' naman pala eh, ano ba. I shrug and he smiled. I'm going out with Donato Antonio Laxa Pangilinan for a 'Thank you treat.'

After our classes, pumunta na ako sa lobby kung saan sya maghihintay raw. Nakita ko sya kasama mga friends nya, Donny and Friends.

"Sige tol, alis na kami." narinig ko si Tino with hand shake nina Donny, nagpaalam na rin yung iba sa kanya. So it was just me and him in that particular area.

"You ready?" tanong nya, tumango ako. Naglakad kami papunta sa parking lot kung saan nya nilagay kotse nya ng nakita namin sina Layla kasama friends nya sa daanan papuntang parking lot. I stopped letting them walk passed me, Donny did the same thing. I feel tense as Layla passed, ang awkward kaya na kasama ko boyfriend nya.

I noticed that Donny didn't bother to talk to her, even Layla. That's weird. As we got in to his car, I keep on thinking about them.

"Penny for your thoughts?"

I snapped out from my thoughts and payed attention, he is now driving off the campus. "Bakit di mo pinansin si Layla kanina?" there's no turning back with my question.

He looks mad, the smile on his face faded. "We broke up." Tama ba narinig ko? They broke up? What? When? Why?

"Hindi naman sa nakikialam ako, pero ba't ba kayo naghiwalay?" I asked calmly ayokong magalit sya, "She cheated."

Kapal ni ate girl, sa sobrang pogi ni Donny may magkakamali pa talaga ha. Ano yun? 'Sobrang pogi'? Really Sierra?  Really?

"I'm sorry for asking, I shouldn't have asked that. Ghad, why am I so awkward." I rant nerviously, "Hey, chill. It's cool, I got over her. My friends already told me about her attitude like that."

I nod and I feel calm now, he doesn't look like much affected with the break up. I noticed something different, he doesn't act like this. This isn't the Donny I know past months and years ago. He changed a lot in a few months after I started having a special class with him.

He doesn't make rude comments about me, he doesn't pissed me like he used to, I got really comfortable talking to him than I used to. Before we only have small talks, now we usually have deep conversation about random things. Like where do tears come from, how did Professor Dumbledore managed to live with long beard, or like how can I make an artificial snow for the Philippines.

His thoughts are so weird that I really enjoyed listening and laughing at him. There's so much in him that people should know. He is not just any pretty face and a great athlete, but he is also smart.

The 'Thank you treat' went really well, though it was kind of awkward when an employee said that we are a cute couple, when we're actually not.

"Thank you talaga ha, pati rin dito." sabi ko habang hinahawakan ko yung binili niyang pagkain para kay mama at Gabby. "Wala yun, dapat ako nga magpasalamat sa lahat." he smiled genuinely.

"Sige, alis na ako. Salamat ulit."

"Bye."
