13 | Sierra

Days passed, our friendship grew like a flower. Each day that I'm with him, I learn something about him. What he does when he feel stress about the upcoming tournament, his life living with four siblings and I even learned that he enjoys being alone sometimes.

I didn't know that Donny Pangilinan enjoys being alone. Back then, I always see him with his friends, I picture him hanging out with them all the time. Who would have thought that the Donny Pangilinan likes being alone sometimes?

Aside from we go out eating street foods after school, I still continue teaching him in free time or after classes. I've always been his tutor and I'm glad he wasn't sick of seeing my face almost everyday, not to mention that we have few classes together.

"Si, are you going to watch our game?" Donny interrupts as I stopped writing an essay that I have to pass today.

"Oo, but I have to do this first. Paabot naman nung papel." I say pointing at the paper near him. He took the paper and hands it to me.

"May sasabihin kasi ako sayo after the game, so you have to be there. Okay?"

"Sabihin mo na kaya para hindi ko na kailangan maghintay after game niyo."

"Basta, mamaya na. Sige na mauna na ako, see you later." ginulo nya buhok ko sabay tayo at umalis hawak yung bag nya.

Ano kaya sasabihin nya?

Feel ko, kakalbo ako sa kakaisip kung ano ang sasabihin nya. Hindi ako nakapagconcentrate sa essay ko dahil sa kakaisip sa sasabihin ni Donny mamaya. Lumipas ang isang oras at natapos ko na rin yung essay ko, buti't hindi ako gaanung naalala tungkol sa gusto nyang sabihin.

Tinignan ko yung relo ko, 5:06 pm. I passed my essay and speed up to the gym, hoping that I'm not late. As I got in, as usual, madaming tao and it seems like the game just started. I see familiar faces from school while there are also outsiders because taga ibang school kasi yung kalaban nila Donny kaya may outsiders.

I search for a vacant seat at the upper portion of the bleachers, people are cheering and shouting. Hinanap ko si Donny sa court, and there he is, Pangilinan, 15 as I read at the back of his jersey.

I smile as I saw him, I know that he won't see me because of the crowd but I didn't care. I join the crowd everytime he shoots the ball, showing off everything he learned from his training. After several three points, he became the star of the game. Girls are squealing and cheering for Donny, alam kong sanay na si Donny sa mga ganito pero iba eh. Hindi ko alam kung bakit.

The game is done with the final score of 102-74, BISM wins. Majority of the audience are from our school that's why the crowd is so wild and they couldn't resist the excitement of winning. I stood up and started searching for Donny, meron kasi daw syang sasabihin.

Sobrang sikip sa court dahil puno ng audience and also congratulating the team, hindi na ako makahinga dahil siksikan na nga.

"Sierra!" a male voice from the back called out. I turned around seeing Donny, I ran to him and give him a hug. Sobrang pawis niya but I didn't care, kahit kakatapos lang nilang maglaro pero grabe ang bango nya pa rin.

"You really missed me?" he says while we are still hugging but then I let go quickly with a blush appeared on my cheeks.

I punched his arm saying, "Hindi no!" I rolled my eyes which made him grin.

"Congrats Dons."

"Thank you."

"Ano nga pala yung sasabihin mo?" I asked, we're still in the court surrounded with people.

"Ay, oo nga pala. Wait lang." he says closely to my ears so I can hear him because it was too loud in the room. He left me there for a while.

I'm still thinking what he was going to say to me, I have no clue. Baka he will tell you that he likes you, what? No. Malabo yan, sobrang imposible at tsaka, hindi ako yung type ni Donny. Type nya yung magaganda tapos mabait, yung ka-level nya. Malay natin diba? Beh wag paghinaan ng loob, tiwala lang. Ayokong umasa pero yun rin ang gusto kong sabihin nya.

"Sierra, meet Ali. Ali, this is Sierra." I was interrupted from my thoughts. I watch Donny and the girl named Ali standing before me. Sabi ko na nga ba eh, dapat hindi ako umasa.

Ali is beautiful, she got this long and straight hair. Pretty eyes, she has a mole near her chin but still pretty. Her smile is gorgeous too, good-bye self-esteem.

"Hi, Sierra. We finally meet, Donny told me a lot about you." she smiled holding Donny's hand. Alam na dis.

I smile weakly, "Sana naman di nya ako siniraan sa'yo." I joked, which was fake but still it made them laugh without noticing it.

"He says you're a pretty good tutor to him." Ali responds.

I didn't answer, I just smiled. Malamang, what would you expect me to say kaya shut up nalang ako.

"Yun lang yung sasabihin ko eh, introducing Ali to you." Donny explains then I nod in respond.

Akala ko kung ano yung sasabihin nya.

"Sige Sierra, pupuntahan muna namin sila dad para ma-meet na nila si Ali. Bye."

I nod then Ali also said good-bye. I watch them walk away hand in hand. I look down and walk out from the gym, biking on the way home.

Masama ba akong kaibigan kung hindi ako masaya na may mahal na yung kaibigan ko?
