16 | Sierra

"Ma, alis na po ako." pinuntahan ko si mama sa bakuran habang naglalaba siya.

"Mag-ingat ka ha," malumanay niyang sabi tapos tumango ako, sinabihan ko rin siyang mag-ingat dito sa bahay. Ginising ko na rin yung kapatid ko, si Gabby.

Paglabas ko ng bahay, nakita ko ang sobrang pamilyar na sasakyan. Sa mga Pangilinan to' ah. I stood for a minute then Donny came out, hala ano ginagawa niya dito?

"Ba't ka nandito?" I knitted my brows in confusion.

"Hindi ba pwedeng sunduin ka?" he smiles then crossing his arms.

"Hindi," sambat ko, "Hindi mo naman responsibilidad yun' eh." I added.

"Well, I wanted to." he grinned.

I rolled my eyes at him, pero deep inside. Kinikilig lul. "Bahala ka! Magba-bike ako!" I managed to say it kahit nagbu-blush ako.

"Sige, sumbong kita kay dad." he threatened me, alam ni sir Anthony? "He knows that we're picking you up." he added.

"Nakakahiya naman," I look down, kahiya kaya.

"Alam ko kasi na hindi ka makaka-ayaw kina mom at dad kaya I asked them if it's okay." he smirked then I glared at him when he said it. Anu ka ba Donny, yung make things complicated.

"Sige na nga." I pouted.

"Napipilitan?!" he gasps, then sinapak ko yung braso niya tapos he just laughs.

He opens the car's door so I can get in first, I immediately saw Solana singing with Hannah and Benj next to her. I greeted them a "Good Morning" and they also did the same thing, Solana looks so excited when she saw me.

"Ate Sierra!" she squeals when she saw me, when I sat down next to her, she pinched my cheeks then I pulled her into a hug.

"How are you, Sol?" I keep hugging her because I miss her so much kahit nagkikita naman kami minsan sa school.

"I'm good, Ate. How about you?" she leans closer to me when I let her go.

"I'm okay," I smiled and pinch her cheek. Hannah also talked to me about school stuff

Nung nakarating na kami sa school, we separated our ways. Hannah dropped Solana at her department, si Benj naman went to his class then Donny and I walked together to our department.

"I can't believe prom is coming up," Donny broke the silence while we walk in the hallway, ay oo nga. Prom is scheduled next week, Friday, nakalimutan ko may prom pa pala.

"Ay, oo nga noh." I groan, "Sobrang dami na namang preparations like the decorations, hay buhay scholar." Sa school kasi, mostly in-charge yung scholars sa ganitong events though other students are allowed to help but kami talaga yung nagha-handle nito kasama ng student council.

He muttered something but I barely heard it, "Who are you going with?" he asks.

"No one," I said, "Hindi naman rin ako pupunta eh." Sobrang magastos ng prom-prom na yan, lalo't-lalo na sa akin, sobrang nahihirapan na ako kasi ako lang yung maaasahan ni mama.

"Why?" he asks curiously.

"Dahil wala akong time sa mga ganyan-ganyan, siguro magta-trabaho ako sa café sa time na yan." I walk a bit fast than him.

"But I was about to ask you if you want to go to prom with me." Napahinto ako sa paglalakad, ano daw? Tama ba narinig ko? I looked at him while he did the same thing with a serious face.

Tinawanan ko siya, "Seryoso ka ba? Kasi hindi siya magandang biro." patawa kong sabi. I covered my mouth to stop myself from laughing, kahit kinikilig na.

"I'm dead serious with asking you out," Donny said, I went serious too like what he said. Wait, what does he mean by he is serious in asking me out? As in date or sa prom? I didn't answer then finally he talks, "Look, I wanted you to experience prom before leaving high school and aside from that, I really, really wanted to go with you."

Ahh, sa prom pala. Ikaw talaga Sierra, masyado kang feeling lul. What? Really Donny? Really? Gusto niyang pumunta kasama ako? Pakisapak naman oh, baka nananaginip lang ako. Pero kung panaginip rin ito, ayoko ng gumising lul.

Napaisip tuloy ako, "Seryoso ka ba talaga diyan?" I knitted my brows then he quickly nods. "Wala ng bawian?"

"Why would I do that?" he chuckles.

"Eh basta, wala ng madaming tanong. Sure na talaga?" Baka kasi napipilitan lang siya.

"Sure talaga ako." I nodded in response then he smiled and said, "Thank you, dahil pumayag ka."

We separated our ways, dahil iba yung classes namin. I have a problem now, what am I going to wear? How am I going to prepare for this? Financially, walang-wala talaga. Malaki pang gastos, hay nako.

Lumipas yung oras at mukhang mabilis na akong tatanda nito dahil sa kakaisip. I'm currently sitting on a bench all alone, nag-iisip kung ano ang pwede kong gawin. Next week na yung prom hindi pa ako ready, wala pa akong susuotin kasi hindi ko rin kasi alam na may magyaya pa sa'kin pumunta sa prom.

"Ate Sierra, why are you all alone?" a female familiar voice asked, paglingon ko si Hannah pala tapos she sat next to me.

"Hi Han, vacant eh. Ikaw, saan friends mo?" I sit up straight.

"They're busy. Actually, I just pass by because I had to go to Solana to give her snacks." she explains then I nod.

We were quiet for a moment, napaisip tuloy ako ulit sa problema ko ngayon. Yung prom.

"Is there something bothering you, Ate Sierra?" she asked with a concern tone in her voice.

I looked down, "May problema kasi eh."

"What's wrong?"

"Prom."

"Huh?" she looks confused, "Since when did prom became a problem?" she chuckled.

"I have nothing to wear. Basta, I don't know what to do." I rant, worried tone in my voice while she laughs. "Yung kuya mo kasi eh."

Hannah was shook. "Kuya asked you to prom?!" I nooded. "Well, today is your lucky day!" she cheers, "I'm going to help you get ready for prom. Don't worry na, I got your back."

I smiled and I thanked her before she left. Such a lifesaver. At first, hindi ko sana tatanggapin offer niya kasi nakakahiya pero she insisted and sayang din ang opportunity kung hindi ma-showcase talent niya, she has potential kasi eh. Hindi ko talaga alam ano gagawin ko and thankfully, nandyan si Hannah to help me.
