When We got into the jeep, Dad's mood predictably changed as it usually did when Mom reacted hysterical to typical everyday objects including buses and remotes.
"Honey." Dad started, wrapping his right arm around my moms shoulder. "Whats with you and boxes?"
I heard Mom shift herself to the right.
"Ever since I saw Jumanji..." She begins to explain. "I have grown paranoid finding board boxes in the beach. Like today."
Yeah right. I thought to myself, rolling my eyes because my mother is a very good liar.
"I am telling the truth!" Mom claims, shaking her hands. "Ask my parents."
Nobody spoke through the silence.
"Dad, do you know the fire head?" I asked, looking out my window as I remembered her from somewhere long before today.
"Kristina Bell." Dad said, his voice easily tells he remembers her. "Reminds me, did you know she had a sister?"
"Not until today. I didn't know." My mother said, surprised. "Alex did--"
"Nope." I said, cutting the chase;I now remembered she was my babysitter five years ago and had those exact same red freckles on her face. "One more week of school."
This is my last week as a sophomore at High school. Next year:Junior!
How can I get the board without my parents knowledge? I ponder in my head.I could call the police, notify the fire department, hire a drunk person to bump into The Jeep....I know who, Mary!
I slip my phone from underneath the seat and into my hands, then I checked my contacts for her phone number.
Mary's status indicated she is a busy, which of course she is not as usual; I met Mary during Middle school at the age of seven and she was eight, but that didn't tear our first interaction apart during recess.
I hesitate.
"Call her." I muttered to myself, pressing the button. I wasn't going to check it out alone. "Hellow Mary."
Immediately, I heard a laugh.
"How did you get this number?" Came the squeaky reply. "I have repeatedly changed this phone number!"
"Who for?" I asked, out of the curiosity.
"My dad, the worst man on Earth." Mary's fine sandy trebled through the connection. "Tell me.how."
"A stroke of luck." I whisper, keeping laughter inside. "I found a box at the beach today, but my mom is keeping it away, so I want you to help."
"Sureee." She droned on, her tune changes into creaky voice. "Whats inside the box?"
"I don't know." I said, honestly not sure. "I hear you twisting the cord!"
"Am not." She argues, twisting the cord.
"Don't deny it." I began pointing out. "You are!"
"You hang up."
"No you."
"you hang up!"
"Okay."
You may be confused on what is going to happen next. so you should patiently watch and see this situation; Before I forget, I'm a boy. Got a problem with that?
