Moments Interlinking With The Past

Chapter 22

Tris P.O.V
I moved in with Four a few days ago. Today is Christmas Eve. I don't know what I will do today. I was sitting in Four's bedroom reading the favourite book of Haze. It is a nice book so far. When Four comes in and says, "What are your plans for today?"

"Nothing." I said shaking my head.

"Would you come downstairs with me?" He said grabbing my hand and pulling me with him.

"What is it?" I said as we want downstairs.

"It's a surprise," He said. As went into the living room. There were many boxes and a tree.

"Would you give me a hand in decorating?" He said.

"Yes I will," I said excitedly.

First, we both decorated the tree. It was really fun placing the colourful ornaments on the tree. It looked beautiful. The only thing left was to place the star on the tree, my hand was not reaching the top as it was very high. "Four, mind giving me a hand?" I said.

"What is it?" He said.

"I want to place this star in top of the tree and my hand is not reaching." I said.

"Okay. Do you trust me?"

"What kind of question is that? Obviously, I trust you." He crouched, wrapped his arms around my legs above my knees,tightly and lifted me up. "Four!" I yelled, "put me down!"

"First, place the star," I placed it on top of the tree.

"Done" I said and he crouched and then pulled his hands back. "Thank you for helping."

"Welcome. Now you light the candles while I hang the wreath."

"I will do it and then you have to hang the stockings."

"I will do it." He said picking up the wreath and making for the door. I placed the candles around the room and lighted them one by one, while he hung the stockings.

After we had finished decorating the living room looked beautiful. I and Four sat on the couch. "Anymore surprises?" I said looking at him.

"Yes just wait 3........2...........1" The door bell rang.

I opened the door, "Merry Christmas." Came in a chorus, then I saw familiar faces Christina, Gus, Zeke, Uriah, Marlene, Shauna, Will, Lauren.

"Hey guys! Thank you for coming." I said embracing each one of them. "Lynn didn't come, why?"

"She has a bad cold." Lauren said.

"Oh!"

We all talked, cracked jokes, played candor and dauntless for a long time. When Four called us for dinner. He made turkey with vegetables and bread. Dinner was really juicy and tasty. In dessert, it was a delicious fruit cake.

Everyone went to sleep really early, except for me. I took my purse, wore my long over coat and went to buy gifts for all of my friends.

I wrapped them in red, green and yellow wrapping papers and then went to sleep.

Next morning, I woke up early and went to the living room where everyone was sitting in their pyjamas.

"Merry Christmas!Everyone." I said.

"Merry Christmas!" They all said.

We all exchanged gifts with each other. After everyone had given I gave them the gifts I bought for them.

"Thank you for Cameleon Palette De Maquillage Makeup Kit." Christina said.

"I needed a photo album. Thankyou, Tris," Gus said.

"A skateboard, Thanks," Uriah said.

"Roller skates, I really needed them. Thanks." Zeke said.

"Cute. I always wanted to have this shirt," Marlene said.

"How did you know I wanted these earrings and necklace." Shauna said.

"It was just a guess." I said smiling.

"Glasses, really, Tris." Will said.

"It's not just glasses it's Google Glass." I said winking.

"Cool." He said.

"Nail polish in 20 different colours,  thanks." Lauren said.

"Can you give this to Lynn." I hand Lauren a box as small as my palm.

"Yeah sure." She said taking it.

"And my last gift is for all of us." I want to the kitchen, opened the fridge and took a large box in the living room. I opened it revealing a chocolate fudge cake with 'Happy Holidays' written in white icing.

"It looks so delicious," Uriah said.

"Yes it does," I said and cut it in slices for everyone to have. I went to the kitchen for bowls and spoons.

I turned around and saw Haze smiling. She was wearing red pyjamas. "Merry Christmas" she said. "Same to you." I said. "This is your gift." She said embracing me. "Thank you it is the best gift ever". "Welcome, now enjoy with your friends." She said.

Four snapped his fingers and I came back to reality. "What are you thinking?" He said.

"Nothing really. Now take these," I handed him the bowls, "I am coming with the spoons."

We all ate cake and talked for a long time. It was almost sunset, when they all went home.

I started to clean the dishes when Four wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his chin on my shoulder. A sharp pain shooted at my shoulder, I tensed up which made him pull away. "Tris are you okay?" He said.

"Yeah, just tired," I lied. I don't know why but it all felt wrong to lie.

"You go upstairs and take rest. I will do all the work." He said.

"Thank you." I said and went to my room, sat on the bed.

"Hey! What happened? Why are you upset?" Haze said. "I don't know it doesn't feel right to lie, I have to tell him the truth" I said. "Do you know what will happen if you told him the truth." Haze said, I shook my head 'no'. "His trust for you will be broken. He will feel betrayed." Haze said, "Do you want that?". "No I don't" I said. "Then tell him at the right time. Okay?" Haze said. "Yeah." I said. "Now go to sleep." She said.
