Moments Interlinking With The Past

Chapter 8

Tris P.O.V
After the events of last night I didn't want to show myself to everyone. Now because of this I am weak infront of my enemy.

Nevertheless, I have to go as I don't want him to see me weak. I am brave. I wear a blue shirt with black jeans and head off to school.

First class is Science with, Tobias. The teacher gave us this class so that we could talk about our project.

I just scribble random things on my notebook and wait for Tobias. He is late again. After 5 minutes he is scolded by the teacher and then he came and sat beside me. "Hey, how are you?" He asks.

"Never been better." I reply.

"About our project.........On which topic do we make a project on?"

"I don't know. Any ideas?"

"Hmm. Let's see not chemistry as I don't get the right amount of chemicals while mixing them."

"Biology?"

"Don't get me started on biology."

"Then what?"

"Physics as it deals with machines and I have a great knowledge on it."

"Yeah, that's a good idea we can search of how different machines work."

"But how do we start?"

"There is a Ferris Wheel in an abandoned amusement park. It doesn't work we can first figure out how it works."

"Great, when are we going?"

"Tonight."

"Okay." Then the bell rings. Time passes away really fast.

While walking on the street with Haze something comes in my mind I say,"Shit! Beatrice you have done it!"

"What have you done now?" Haze asks worriedly.

"You know what I am an idiot I gave him a chance to kill me tonight!"

"How?!" I told her about the project and she said, "Yes, you are a complete idiot."

"Can you come with me and stay undercover?"

"I wish I would but I also have a Literature project. I have to read a book, do research about it's author and then me and my partner will present it."

"So you are also paired."

"Mhmm."

"Let me guess are you paired with the love of your life.......Gus."I tease her.

"Okay, (a) he is not the love of my life (b) we are just friends." Haze explains to me.

"Oooh, the friend zone huh." I tease her again.

"And by the way you are also friends with Tobias." She teases me back.

"First of all he is not my friend and second of all shut up!" I shouted. And we walked silently.

While I was getting ready Haze said, "Take this dagger for your protection," handing me a scabbared," and I am going to inject this so stand still." And she injected a small chip on my arm.

"What is this?" I asked.

"This, my dear, is a protective chip. It will sense danger from the person near you and send waves to your brain by which you will protect yourself. I have feeded data in it about the people who might hurt you." She says.

"Thankyou for your eruditeness." I say hugging her tightly.

"That's what friends are for. Now go and be safe."

I walked to the Ferris Wheel where I found Tobias. He was examining it curiously. "What are you looking at?"
I ask walking towards him.

"Nothing. Now let's find its lever." He said.

Really, you want to find the lever. If I was you I would have climbed it to see how high it is and yeah I am going to climb it. With this intention I started climbing it. After a few minutes, Tobias said looking up, "Tris, what do you think you are doing?"

"What do you think I am doing? I am seeking higher ground." I say while climbing.

"Are you insane?"

"Kind of."

"Just wait I am also coming."

I stood there and after a few minutes until he was beside me. We started to climb even higher until I found a platform to sit on. My legs were suspended in the air when I was sitting he also sat beside me," It is pretty high." He said looking down.

"Are you scared of heights?" I ask.

"Yes a bit, but not much." He admits.

"Doesn't the city look beautiful."

"Well it does it is as if I can see further away from the city." What he said is the truth I can really see miles away.

We just sat there for a while when my head rested on his shoulder. He said, "Tris, I think we should go. It's getting a bit cold."

"I think you are right we should go." We started to descend. What the hell Beatrice! You just rested your head on your family's murderer. Are you insane? How could you do this?

I was so absorbed in my thoughts that my foot slipped and I was hanging in mid air. "To-Four help!" I screamed.

He looked up and started to descend quickly and he reached the ground. What is he doing? Oh I know, he is leaving you Beatrice. So that you fall to your death.

Just then the Ferris Wheel started to move and I was taken to the ground. "How the hell did you start this thing?" I said panting.

"Just, fixed some wires and pulled the lever that's how." He said.

"Thankyou." I said.

"Welcome".

"I think I should go home it's getting late. You can write a report on how you made this thing work."

"If you want I can take you home."

"No....... By the way thanks." I reached my hand to him and said, "Friends."

He reached out his hand and we shook as he said,"Friends." For a while I got lost in his blue eyes. I came to reality when he took his hand back.

I went home and laid down on my bed. Replaying the whole trip up and down the Ferris Wheel, the touch of his hand on mine and his blue eyes. Wait.........I am attracted to him. No.......No.......NO! I can't.........I cannot fall in love with a murderer. With all these thoughts in my head I eventually fell asleep.
