Focusing with a Confession
Two weeks have passed since the day I kissed Eric…I mean, Eric kissed me. Or is it the other way around? I truly don’t know.
I stopped pacing in my room…
Just taking a second, to think and reorganize my thoughts. I closed my eyes, desperately trying to think of happy thoughts, but I couldn’t. Ethan isn’t my happy thought, neither is Eric. Ever since our lips touched, he hasn’t stopped calling me since. Suddenly my phone starts to vibrate on my dresser.
It’s Eric, of course!
My reply: I need some space…To think.
His reply, smiley face.
I take a minute to flip through the voicemails on my phone; one that stands out to me was the one from Eric:
'I really miss you, and I’m sorry if I hurt you in any way. I admit our relationship was happily rushed into. But it definitely did not run its course. I can’t lose you. You’re my best friend… And something stupid that I did! Should never, change that. I really do…Love you Heather.'
I rolled my eyes, shut off my phone then placed it back down.
Letting out the nervous air I had built up inside. TRANSLATION: I farted.
My cheeks turned red instantly. I took a look at myself in the mirror, resting against my dresser. Then a small glance to the right to see a rubber band wrapped around in the shape of a ring. My prom-proposal.
One of the most embarrassing yet, cutest moments of my life.
I begin to refresh, and take a look back by closing my eyes. I burst out a grin, which instantly turns into a smile.
I slowly open my eyes and in the mirror, my hair begins to turn lime green. It starts from the roots, and freshly makes its way down softly to my hair ends .
I roll my eyes, and tangle my hands in my hair out of frustration. I try to pull on my hair, hoping that if I can pull it hard enough it will just. Fall off.
I struggle to gain a tight grip, but my ‘id’ says otherwise. Instead I end up ripping some pieces of my hair off. Shit! Now how am I supposed to explain this to my mom?
I hear a small knock forming on my door it gets louder and louder with each knock. I start to freak out while staring at my hair pieces, then it ‘hit’ me. I’ll just tell her that it’s my new extensions that I bought at Lexington Mall.
“Come in.” I yell
My room door swings open wide, but no one enters. I hear footsteps walking towards me, but yet not a single sign of a human insight.
I hear a small voice; it must be Nina who’s in my room.
“Nina!”
“Yea”
“Why can’t I see you.” I began frustrated.
“Dad’s been helping me find my powers.” She says as her body slowly becomes visible.
Awesome! She’s way under my age but yet she can master shit like this. I began to mumble under my breath.”
“Dad wanted to know how you were doing with your powers, since it may be time for you to start training. She jumps with excitement.
“Training for what, he never mentioned anything about training. W-when did he mention training ? I wa— ugh. Why am I finding about this now!” I yell, while folding my arms out of anger.
