It was a great way to start the day, 4:30 in the morning awoken by an alarm blaring way to loud for my liking. And on a school day... I sat up, why am I torturing myself like this on a Friday?! Oh!!! I jumped out of bed in excitement and hurriedly got dressed.

Today is Fawn's birthday! I grabbed my wallet, full of money I had earned and saved over the year, checked the mirror to see if I had any cowlicks. I did, but I was too excited to care.

I sprinted down the stairs, as quietly as possible. I grabbed a strawberry bagel, and ate it faster then I've eaten anything before.

I grabbed my pile of preparations, that included lots of scotch tape, a banner, M&M's, and my wrapped gift to her, and put it in my backpack.

I walked in our garage and put of my oldest brothers bike helmet, (I recently broke mine, oops) and got my bike out the side door.

I pedaled as fast as I could, to Fawn's favorite dounut shop. I checked my wristwatch.

"What time is it?" I asked.

"It's 5:02! Dang, you're up early!" I smiled, because it said it in Fawn's voice and enthusiasm. We had customized each others watches to each others voices.

I walked into the little shop, known for its glazed donuts. Fawn and I biked here, almost daily one summer. So of course, the employees know me on a first name basis.

"Hey Aero! You haven't been her for a while! Where's Fawn?" A worker named Elaina asked me.

"At her house, sleeping, unaware that she's about to get the yummiest birthday surprise ever," I said with a smile.

"Oh it's her birthday?! How sweet of you to do that, here, I'll give you a dozen glazed donuts on the house," Elaina said with a smile. Oh nice!

"Thanks!" I exclaimed. She chuckled and she handed me the box.

I pedaled cautiously, with one hand holding the donuts and the other steering all the way to my bestfriend's house.

The first thing I did was climb the tree, conveniently close, to Fawn's bedroom window.

Carefully, I taped the "HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY FAWN!!!!" Banner, facing the inside of her room.

I climbed back down, and took the M&M's out of my backpack. I opened it, and threw one at her window.

It hit with a little "ping". Awe come on Fawn, wake up...

I threw about nine more, before I saw the blinds lift up.

Fawn's eyes widened at the banner, and she immediately smiled. I quickly dropped my bag of M&M's, and opened the box of donuts and held it up.

"Happy birthday Fawn!" I yelled up to her.

She laughed. "I'll be right there!" I saw her put a robe on over her long sleeved blue pajama shirt.

After a couple seconds she opened the front door, and ran out to me in slippers.

"Aero! You didn't have to do thi-wait! Are those Krispy Kreme doughnuts?!" She asked in excitement. I laughed.

"Well only the best, for my favorite person!" I said to her, calling her "my favorite person" because we had been calling each other that since we were little. She squealed and gave me a hug. We walked inside her house, where we heated up a bunch of them for us, and two for her parents.

"Hey Fawn, I got you a present," I said inbetween bites. Fawn perked up.

"Ou yay! What is it?" She asked. I handed her my small present, wrapped in bright yellow wrapping paper.

She carefully unwrapped the small gift, and looked at me, confused. She pulled out a necklace, with a puzzle piece that says

You're
Fav

I pulled out an almost identical silver puzzle piece necklace that was tucked into my shirt. The only difference was mine fit into hers, and it said

My
orite

So when I fit mine with hers, it said

You're My
Favorite

She gasped, and gave me another hug. It made me to happy to make her smile, so for the rest of that day I called myself her servant, and did everything for her.

Little did I know, one month and 25 days later, our lives were going to change forever.

Authors Note:
Hey! I see you've come back for the first chapter! Yay! So, I'm going to clear something up.

When this chapter took place, the fraternities, were not in place.
