I was jittery the entire day at school. It was hard to focus.
This is stupid. Who cares about how many times we've lived or whatnot?
I thought about my family...
Austin, the oldest, is almost seventeen. Asher, which I call Ash, is sixteen. Next, there is August, (I bet you can take a wild guess on which month he was born in) and he is thirteen. And last, but definitely not least, is the youngest family member, and only girl, little Amber.
I guess my parents thought they were being funny, giving us all names that start with an "a".
Fawn, who has been my bestest friend since we were three. We met, because our dad's worked for the same real estate company.
No! I'm supposed to be listening to yet another lesson on how the something-or-another-effect works.
Yet, despite how hard I tried my mind wondered to other things.
The school day passed by, painfully slow. The bell rang, and I immediately rushed to get my backpack, and waited by the door for Fawn.
"AERIE!" She yelled in my ear as she jumped, and landed next to me. I laughed, in turn making her laugh. We walked arm in arm, to the office, where her parents waited for her. On an ordinary day, we walked past that office, and to my bus, where we rode it to my house. We would do homework, if we had any. Sometimes we would walk down to a little creek, where I would fish. And if I wasn't fishing, then I was swimming with Fawn.
But today wasn't ordinary. Today was the day of The Caverly Test. The one for our parents, and siblings. So today, not a single kid was hanging out with their friends. Today, was reserved for spending, possibly our last moments with our families.
I said goodbye to Fawn, knowing it wasn't the last time I'd see her today. See- we had hatched a plan.
After everyone was sorted, we were to hide, (unless one of our parents were in the same fraternity as us, and we lived in the area for Fraternity One,) we would wait until the government had searched the area for all the eleven year olds. Next, we meet up at Krispy Kreme, near the back, by the garbage cans. Then, we would run away. We would first run to each and every family member, starting with our parents. We'd offer to let them run away with us, and help them escape.
And we would run away to a new place. Because family sticks together.
We had it all planned out. I helped little Amber get ready. She was too young, so she went with the parents. Or- one of them.
After that, I grabbed my bag that I prepared the night before, filled with clothes, canned food, and a picture of my family.
And walked out with my parent to go to the ceremony.
Authors Note: Hey! Sorry for the wait! See- this isn't my only story. I'm currently writing three, one of them is a short story in a Wattpad contest called "My Handmaids Tale" and, (if any of you have seen "The Handmaids Tale) its where I write a 500 word story adaption to that. So not only did I have to get Hulu to watch it, I had to watch it, and somehow write a freaking story in 500 words! And, it has to be good!!! So yeeeaaahh... Plus I got exciting news that I'm going on a surprise vacation! Yay!
Okay... I'm ranting... Thanks for reading :) Love you all<3
