Fawn and I walked out, followed by the police officers. They explained to us, that because our parents were now in their correct Fraternities, we would be staying at what used to be a homeless shelter, so we wouldn't be on our own. And no- they wouldn't let us even if we wanted to.
We asked.
We re- planned that night. We decided, we would both do the same thing that girl Sage did, but obviously they wouldn't expect it because we would be normal.
Or at least, that's what I thought. Lesson learned: life cannot be planned out.
We got ready, and we went over the plan many times.
Run out. Hide so they can't find you. Meet at my house. We will track down each family member. And run off to Canada.
Simple.
Right?
No.
Wrong.
I could tell Fawn was nervous, and I didn't blame her. I was too. We were about to all head to the auditorium, lead by officers, when I couldn't find Fawn. I started frantically looking for her, absolutely terrified of loosing her.
A wave of relief washed over me, as I walked up to Fawn, sitting on a bed, looking at her necklace. I sat next to her.
"Fawn-ster, it's gonna be fine, good even!" I told her, not believing the words as they came out of my mouth. She nodded, and hugged me. I hugged back, and pulled Fawn to her feet.
We arrived there, by a smelly old school bus. Fawn and I raced out to get seat, closest to the door, me being closer because I would be called before her.
When instructed, we put the electrocution- looking things to our heads. When the mayor pressed the button, my head felt hot and then I closed my eyes, amazed with the sudden flood of memories before my eyes. Some of which, I didn't even remember. I was amazed, when I saw images of a kite, flying in the sky, one I've never flown. A birthday cake, where I blew out all 27 candles. Several things, I had never seen before. It was kind of like trying to recall a dream, so desperate to remember it, but in the end remembering nothing.
Well that was weird. I was still in shock, and was spacing out until I heard my name.
"Fields, Aero..." I got up and started sprinting to the door, and I made it! But as I sprinted to the nearest dumpster I heard the mayors astonished voice say
"What?! Another Fraternity Ten?!" Out of breath, I sat behind the dumpster. The officers ran out, just as I hid behind it. I heard him cuss, and yell at his partner for letting, "yet another" get away.. hmm... the officers went back inside. I realized, that Fawn would only be able to hide in the same spot as me, so I sprinted to an ally way near by, and listened hard.
"Garcia, Fawn..." *rustles as Fawn runs* I saw her leap behind that same dumpster, and those officers yelling at each other as they ran out.
"Fraternity..... Ten...." he now sounded grave. The guards now, stood at the door. "If I see anyone make any attempt to run away, you'll be shot on the spot." A couple kids screamed. One even fainted. Thank god we got out!
We waited, until nightfall, when the ceremony was over, to come out of out hiding spots.
Fawn hugged me, and started to cry into my shoulder.
"I almost didn't make it" *sob* "past the guards" *sobs some more* I calmed her down, and we started walking, through the darkness.
It had been hours, of walking before we finnaly reached a town. I made Fawn trail behind be, as we entered the uncharted territory. Neither of us had been there, and it looked abandoned. Oh, I realized where we were. An Old Town. I put down my small steak knife, I was holding up for protection.
"It's just an Old Town, perfect!" I exclaimed.
"Old Town? Why did they abandon it?" She asked me.
"Well, it was too far behind on technology, and nobody wanted to live here anymore." I explained.
"Who are you?" I hear an older female voice ask us. We turn around, and raise our hands at the same time,
For Sage, was aiming a gun at us.
