I held my mom's hand, with my left, and my dad's with my right. My backpack, full of clothing, canned food, a can opener, a walkie talkie, matching Aero's, and some socks, and shoes. We went to our town central, so my parents could take their test. I kept track, of how many turns we drove by, so it would be easier to go back to my house, and grab my bike.
We arrived, and I noticed how nervous my parents looked.
We walked in, and I was separated from my parents. The eleven year olds, had a section, the kids under eleven, had a section, and the testers had a section. I kissed my mom and dad, gave them a hug, and told them how much I loved them. I found Aero, and headed straight for him. He had his backpack in a seat next to him. I walked over.
"Hey, Aerie" he turned to me, and engulfed me in a hug. He moved his backpack off the seat, and I sat down next to him. It was, rather quiet. Our mayor, of our little town, strutted onto the stage. Aero and I, often made fun of the blonde haired man, with his bushy mustache and pig face.
Then the ceremony started.
"Now, ladies and gentlemen. I cannot express, how excited I am, to see all of you here today! How this is going to work, is in front of each tester, there is two cords. On the end of each cord, is a patch, in which you will stick on your temples. When I press this button, it will send a tiny, itty bitty shock, to your brain. It will, in a sense, look through your personality, run back through the cords, and into my data system. It will automatically, calculate results. I will, read the results, in alfabetical order, by last name. Now please, put the patches to your temples, and let's begin the Caverly Test."
A couple of minutes of electronic sounds, and the mayor spoke again.
"Please, remove the cords, while I announce the results."
"Bones, Alexander" a boy, who looked about 20, stood up. "Fraternity One."
"Curtis, Elena....... Fraternity Four."
"Fields, Alison.........Fraternity Three."
"Fields, Amber..... Fraternity Six."
"Fields, Andrew........ Fraternity Three."
"Fields, Asher...... Fraternity One."
"Fields, August...... Fraternity Two."
"Fields, Austin....... Fraternity Two."
"Fontaine, Stephanie.... Fraternity Two."
"Garcia, Jessica..... Fraternity Five."
"Garcia, Steven..... Fraternity Five."
"Hoyer, Ethan..... Fraternity Nine."
"Hoyer, Caitlyn..... Fraternity Eight."
"Jines, Annabell..... Fraternity Seven."
"Jones, Sage...... Fraternity Ten. Wait- ten?" The mayor, paused. "seize her!" When he said that, a redheaded girl, who looked about fifteen, jumped out of her seat, and ran for the doors. The officers weren't prepared enough, and she got away.
"Okay, um... back to business I guess."
"Kennedy, Samara..... Fraternity Eight."
"Lyle, Rebekah..... Fraternity Nine."
"Lyle, Victoria........ Fraternity Eight."
"Maxwell, Cory..... Fraternity Four."
"Noethlich, Ashlynn..... Fraternity Seven."
"Noethlich, Jordyn.... Fraternity One."
"Peterson, Rhett..... Fraternity Seven."
"Rodgers, Jacob..... Fraternity Six."
"Smith, Emma...... Fraternity One."
"Williams, Eleanor.... Fraternity Two."
"And that concludes, our ceremony for the night. By the left entrance, is a few cops. I would like, for the eleven year olds, to kindly make their way that way, and the parents to collect their kids, that are under eleven. Thank you, and have a good night!" Wait- they want to collect all the eleven year olds?! That ruins our plan! Aero and I looked at each other worriedly.
"Just do what they say, we'll run away tomorrow." Aero whispered in my ear. I nodded, slowly, and took his hand.
And we walked out, together.
