Wolf Bark

Chapter 3

"Annabel, I'm sorry but you can't go home," said Brandon. He sounded happy and at the same time sad that she would never see her father again. Annabel then pushed Brandon away from her and looked strait into his eyes. By the way he looked at her, she knew he wasn't joking.

"What do you mean I can't go home," scared Annabel. Brandon didn't know how to say anything without scaring her even more. While Annabel couldn't believe what he just told her. After a few seconds of Brandon not knowing how to explain it Nick stepped in.

"You were marked, and once your marked you can never go home," said Nick as he tried to say it in the nicest way. Annabel didn't want to believe anything that anyone was saying. Instead of waiting for an answer from Brandon she just took off. Since that was were her and her father went camping, the house would be at least 3 and a half if she ran east. She started hearing something in the bushes again, the same exact noise made when the wolves attacked her. She tried to run even faster this time only the wolves were faster and got ahead of her. Once she saw them come out she stopped and tried to turn around until all the wolves came out at once. Then she noticed the grey wolf, this was his pack. She wasn't as scared but she was still frightened.

"Please tell me what you want? All I want is to go home," begged Annabel. The grey wolf walked up to Annabel. She sat down on the grass and they looked into each others eyes. The wolf's black eyes changed to dirt brown, then back to black. Annabel tried to remember someone who had brown eyes but the only person she could think of was, Brandon.

"Brandon?" scared Annabel. Then right before her eyes all the wolves changed into the people Brandon was just with. She was more scared when she saw Brandon change from a wolf back to human. She didn't know what to say, she was still very shocked and scared. She had been scared ever since the other wolves attacked her. Brandon looked strait into her eyes and saw fear, he tried to see something good in her eyes but the only thing he saw was fear.

"You really think I'm staying here with you?" asked Annabel. With what just happened Annabel wasn't sure if she wanted an answer from Brandon. She knew he would say yes but didn't know if he would say anything else. She didn't even know what Nick meant by she was marked. Brandon couldn't stand to see Annabel so upset. Then Rocky looked into Brandon's eyes and saw something different.

"She's changed you, because of her you not the fearless leader you once were!" Rocky yelled to Brandon. Rocky could stand to see Brandon so sweet when she knew how he acted. Annabel didn't really want to be in this conversation. Brandon knew what Rocky meant but Annabel had no clue what she meant. Annabel decided to leave while everyone was fighting with everyone else. No one knew she left until she almost reached her house. Everyone knew where she went and headed there. Annabel ran inside and locked the door behind her.

"Dad, I'm home!" Annabel yelled throughout the house. She headed to the living room where her father would be waiting for her while watching TV. When she walked in she saw her dad dead on the floor with his hand reaching for the phone. Annabel held her mouth before she screamed. She tried to stayed calm but she sat on the couch and started crying.

"Aw, so sad when you loose the one you love," said a man. The tall man who was about Annabel's age walked out from her dark kitchen. Annabel jumped off the couch and headed for the door. Taking one step the guy beat her to the door.

"You should remember, Annabel," said the man. Annabel couldn't think strait, she started crying but couldn't run anywhere or else he would get closer and closer to her.

"I'm Richard, from middle school. I was the boy that loved you but when I asked you out you turned me down and left with the other guy and his friends," explained Richard. Annabel was surprised when he said that was Richard. Annabel was surprised how much Richard changed.

"What are you doing here?" wondered Annabel. Annabel wanted to be left alone but after she found her father dead and some guy in her house she actually wished Brandon was with her.

"Trying to get what I want," answered Richard. His face then looked like he showed no emotion. He snapped his fingers and then two more people came out from the kitchen. Annabel didn't like the looks of things.

"What would that be?" scared Annabel. Richard started moving towards Annabel. Annabel started walking backwards. She then turned around and ran to her room. There was not enough room for Richard or the other to people to pass Annabel. She made it to her room and locked the door behind her. The door wasn't going to hold Richard and his friends for long. Annabel thought fast and tied one end of her covers to her bed and the other side she threw out the door. She quickly climbed out her window. After Richard got the door busted down Annabel was able to touched the ground. She ran back into the forest where she hoped to find Brandon and his friends.

"Brandon!" yelled Annabel. She tried to find the cave Brandon had first brought her. She knew that Richard and his friends were right behind her. She continued to yell his name throughout the forest. But as she tried to yell it for the fifth time she was grabbed by Richard.

"You can yell his name all you want, he can't save you now," giggled Richard. Don't worry I don't plan to hurt you," smiled Richard. Richard pushed Annabel's hair back behind her neck and then looked at her mark.

"Leave me alone Richard," struggled Annabel. She started fussing and trying to get free. Richard started to take a close look at her mark then started kissing her neck. Then Annabel heard a wolf howl. Then she saw Brandon hidden in the bushes. She remained quiet until Brandon came out. He jumped out of the bush with three of his friends.

"Let her go Richard," Brandon said as he threw his voice at Richard. Then Richards two friends appeared next to him.

"You really think you could take me head on?" asked Brandon. Brandon's voice kept getting deeper and deeper. Along with his temper rising. Richard wasn't even going to fight, he just gave up and let Annabel go.

"Just remember, you will fall and she will be mine," finished Richard. Richard and his two friends ran into the forest. While Annabel ran to hug Brandon. She started crying and felt all alone.

"Brandon, he killed my father," cried Annabel. Brandon didn't know what to say back. He took Annabel back to the cave. Annabel finally let Brandon put his arm around her. When they reached the cave everyone was staring at Annabel only with anger.

"Annabel you have to stay here. There was a reason why I didn't want you going back home," explained Brandon. Annabel couldn't stand seeing her father dead on the floor. She kept crying and crying. Brandon brought her into the cave which was hard to get in and out of the cave for Annabel. Brandon gently placed her on the ground and after a while she fell asleep. Brandon left Annabel in the cave and went to go talk to his pack. Rocky was still mad for what she did to him, turning him soft.

"She shouldn't be here," complained Rocky. Brandon didn't really feel like talking about her but new that he would have to introduce her sooner or later. He was disappointed by how Rocky was feeling about her new female alpha.

"Brandon marked her, end of story," said Will. Rocky wasn't looking for an answer from Will she wanted an answer from Brandon. Knowing Brandon he would just say the same thing that Will said. Then Annabel woke up hearing the conversation Brandon and his friends were having.

"Why her? Why not a female wolf?" asked Rocky. Then Brandon and all of his guys then knew that Rocky was jealous. He started laughing but not so much the good laugh.

"Your just jealous that I didn't mark you, and I love Annabel. I just wanted her life to be happy until she knew about the tree," explained Brandon. Annabel wasn't really surprised, she knew that Brandon loved her but what she didn't know was about the tree. She then knew she wouldn't have anywhere to go,  unless she stayed here with Brandon and his friends. Then Annabel tried to get out of the cave again without falling into the river. She made it and after she was up Brandon turned around.

"What do you mean, you marked me?" confused Annabel.
