Wolf Bark

Chapter 6

Annabel couldn't think strait and started breathing heavily. She was wondering what was at the end of the cave. She got up and started walking deeper into the cave. She noticed that Eric fell asleep on a rock. She quietly ran into the cave. It wasn't long before Annabel started running faster and faster. Annabel couldn't see what was at the end of the cave. The cave became darker and darker until she started to she something glow at the end of the cave. What she thought was the sun was actually a lantern that was left on. She then picked up the lantern and found a wall blocking her way.

Then Annabel felt something grab her her hair. She dropped then lantern that was facing Annabel and the person behind her. She turned around and saw Eric who was still holding the knife. Annabel screamed when she saw Eric's face. He looked angry and his smile was creepy to Annabel. He stepped on the lantern then picked up Annabel and placed her in his arms. He used his wolf speed and brought her to the entrance to the cave. Then threw her on the ground.

"Richard told me I can't kill you, but this will be your punishment for trying to escape," Eric said as he raised the knife. He then cut Annabel on her left arm three times. She begged him to stop and that she learned her lesson. She thought Eric was loosing it but his order was to keep her there. Annabel took her denim jacket off and looked at her cuts. She couldn't see anything because she was bleeding so much. She then tore off a bottom piece of her tank top and rapped it around her cuts. It didn't take long for that piece of her white tank to turn red. She leaned her head against the wall of the cave. She then carefully put her jacket back on as the cave grew colder. Eric started to fall asleep again and Annabel ran out of ideas to escaping. She thought that if she tried again she would fail and the punishment would just be worst. She walked outside to see the sun go down again. Then she was able to hear the wolves fighting. She then started worrying about Brandon and how his pack would hold Richard. She then thought of what Richard told her. That Brandon would die without her. She then walked to the wall and touched it. She knew she would fail but she jumped like Richard did to get out. She was surprised to open her eyes and find herself still on the wall and not falling. She looked down then quickly back up and started climbing. As she got close to the top her left arm was starting to give out. That was when she almost fell, pebbles fell that woke Eric up. he ran out of the cave and found Annabel at the top of the wall. He then jumped and started climbing. As Annabel watched for a second she then tried to get to the top before he caught her. When she reached the top Eric then grabbed her ankle. Annabel screamed and tried to get her ankle free. She banged her ankle on the ground and Eric let go. He fell and hit the ground hard. Annabel looked down to see him more injured than she was but still able to move. After that fall he wasn't able to climb the wall again. Annabel ran to the fight and fell in a bush. She quietly tried to get up until she saw to wolves jump over the bush. It was Rocky and someone from Richard's pack. Rocky fell to the ground and was badly hurt. She changed back into a human along with the other girl. Annabel ran out of the bush to help Rocky. Annabel tackled the other girl then reached out her hand for Rocky's hand. Rocky grabbed her hand and was surprised to see a mortal help a wolf.

"What happened to you! Brandon's been worried sick about you," relieved Rocky. Rocky grabbed Annabel and squeezed her. Annabel wanted to hug her but had to push her away. It was warmer up here then it was in the cave. Annabel took off her denim jacket while Rocky was in shock. Rocky never expected to see Annabel's whole arm bleeding. Annabel fell to the ground in pain while Rocky sat down next to her. She took a look at Annabel's arm to see what they did to her. Then the girl turned back into a wolf and jumped on Annabel. Annabel was screaming as the wolf growled in front of her face. Rocky then grabbed a stick and stuck it threw the wolf's stomach. Annabel was in shock.

"Don't worry, only a bullet threw a wolf's heart can actually kill a wolf. She'll be awake and ok in about a half hour," explained Rocky. For once Rocky was glad Brandon chose Annabel. They both heard Richard and Brandon fighting in the middle of the forest. Annabel and Rocky ran to help Brandon.

"Stay here until I give you the signal," Rocky told Annabel as Rocky pushed Annabel into a bush. Annabel tried to get up but her arm was to much in pain. Annabel started breathing heavily again. Rocky just jumped in the fight between Brandon and Richard. Rocky ran next to Brandon and stayed until Richard made a move. Brandon wanted answers and couldn't take Richard anymore so he charged at Richard first. Annabel watched as she saw one of Richard's wolves ram into Brandon while he was in the air. Brandon kept rolling until he hit a tree. Brandon then changed from a wolf into a human. While Rocky's mind was focused on Brandon she was bitten on her neck by Richard. Rocky's neck started bleeding as she was then pushed to the ground. Richard and the other wolf turned back into human's. Annabel ran to Brandon to see if he was ok. She gently placed her hands on his cheeks. Richard looked over to see what became of the fearless leader he was suppose to be. He saw Annabel with Brandon. He then ran to grab her. Brandon had opened his eyes with Annabel smiling over him. He was surprised to see Annabel ok.

"Annabel," surprised Brandon. For once in a long time Brandon was able to see her beautiful smile and hear her laugh. The laughing all stopped when Richard grabbed Annabel. Richard noticed the cloth on her arm and used that against her. He started squeezing her arm really tight. Brandon quickly got up and saw Annabel in too much pain.

"Let her go," ordered Brandon. His voice grew deep. When Richard replied with a no Brandon threw a growl at him. Annabel was in so much pain she went on her knees and started crying. She kept begging Richard to stop squeezing her arm. After Brandon couldn't take it anymore he grabbed Richards arm and twisted it behind his back then picked him up and threw him against a tree. Annabel placed her right hand on her left arm where the cuts were. Brandon quickly ran to Annabel worried about her.

"Let me see it," Brandon told Annabel. She held out her arm while Brandon took the cloth off. It hurt Annabel a little but nothing she couldn't handle. Annabel gave Brandon the knife that she took from Eric. Brandon noticed that the knife was made of metal. It would hurt for a wolf to be cut or scratched againts metal and since Annabel was the alpha female she was going threw a lot of pain. Richard got back up while Brandon was looking at Annabel's arm. Richard quickly grabbed Annabel and took a few steps away from Brandon. Richard then placed his hand over Annabel's cuts.

"You come any closer and she's going to get hurt," Richard said as he was a little shaky. Brandon held the knife pointed at Richard. Richard then squeezed Annabel's cuts with his finger nails. Annabel was in ever more pain then before. She slowly sat on her knees then on her butt. Brandon then put the knife down and Richard pulled Annabel back up.

"What do you want?" asked Brandon. He started to cry when he saw Annabel in so much pain. He could feel the pain she was in. Richard lossened his hand that was on Annabel's arm. He still had a good grip on her right arm though.

"I want to be the alpha of your pack," smiled Richard. But before Richard could finish Brandon responded with a no.

"Either that or I take Annabel, forever," finished Richard.
