"Alright you guys! Sit down and shut up! We've got a busy schedule for today so you better be prepared!," Gildarts said entering the classroom with a clipboard and a pair of glasses resting on the tip of his nose. He looked at Natsu and Gajeel and glared. "That goes for you two as well!" They flinched and sat down. Gildarts took a pencil from his desk and tapped the clip on his clipboard as he looked at a list. "Today, as you know, is the last day of the first semester. That means we will be taking a unit test." I heard the people behind me groan and a few panic. "Don't worry. Since most of you are idiots," (There were only five people in the class), "we're taking a physical test."
Now it was my turn to groan. If this was anything like the battle I fought at Sabertooth then I want no part in it.
"First is one-on-one fights, then three-on-three, then an MPF (Magic Power Finder) reading."
I sighed. I hate combat. I'm more of an intellectual type. You know...writing, reading, studying. Wait...did he say three-on-three?
"We'll be heading outside, but not before i introduce a new student," He gestured to the familiar person in the doorway. "This is Aku. He'll be in our class for the remainder of your time here."
(I drew my smol bean^^. He looks yellow on my phone but he looks okay on my computer so just bare with it)
"AKU?!," I yelled.
"YOURE A SLAYER?!," Natsu shouted slamming his hand on the table.
He looked to the side with a small embarrassed blush. "Yeah...not a dragon slayer though. I'm a red phantom slayer."
"Phantom...slayer...?"
"I can control ghosts with a red aura. Murderous aura would be a more accurate term."
"So like the lion?," I asked.
"Yeah...like the lion!"
"I have no idea what you guys are going on about," Natsu said. "Long story," I said.
Gildarts looked at his clipboard once more, "alright. While we wait for Laxus to return from his quest, we'll have Natsu vs Gajeel and Aku vs Wendy. Any questions?"
Wait! That means I'm going against Laxus!
I'm going to DIE! He's an S-Student! He's ranks above me. How does he expect me to beat him?!"...so no questions. Alright. Let's get a move on people. We only have three hours to get this done. I'll show you the arena."
Gildarts pulled a lever that opened up the back wall and revealed a battle ground enclosed by tall bushes outside. The platform was raised ten feet in the air and was coloured a light blue hue. It was surrounded by moat. Around that were barrier lacrimas that probably protected the outside area from the fight.
"So who's going first?"
"US!," Gajeel and Natsu yelled. The climbed onto the platform and Gildarts pressed the button that made a barrier form. "You can start. First one knocked out of the arena loses."
Ah. So the barrier is only for magic. I see. I sat down on the bleachers next to Wendy and Aku sat next to me. "Hey Luke. There's something I have to tell you." Aku said. I glanced at him. "I don't...really know how to use my magic."
"WHAT?!"
I was shushed by Gildarts.
"What do you mean you don't know how to use your magic?"
"In the dungeon I was under a spell. So it's like a split personality. Only that me knows how to use it well."
"Then what about the fight?"
"I can use my magic to some extent, but only at a basic level. I'm screwed aren't I?"
"Not to discourage you or anything, but yeah. You're screwed."
I payed my attention to Natsu's fight. He right hooked Gajeel in the jaw with his fist ablaze making his head snap right. Then Gajeel turned his hand into an iron club and crashed it into his side. Natsu skidded backwards. They both looked really beat up after the ten minutes they've been fighting.
"Fire Dragon's..."
"Iron dragon's..."
"ROAR!"
There was an explosion of orange and grey that filled the enclosed space. I felt the this of them brawling, but I couldn't see them. Finally the barrier disappeared and they were both on the ground with swollen faces and a trail of drool dripping from their mouths.
Gildarts jotted some words on a sheet and sent them to Porlyusica. "Tie"
I nudged Wendy a bit. "It looks like it's your turn."
She exploded a red colour as she looked at me, "A-AH R-RIGHT!!"
That poor girl still has a crush on 'Luke' me. Aku stood up and climbed onto the platform.
The barrier formed and they begun."Sky dragon's Roar!," Wendy started off with a strong attack right away. Luckily Aku had dodged it before it hit him. His stubbed right arm glowed red and formed a temporary magic arm.
"I didn't know he could do that," I mumbled.
He went to Wendy and threw a punch at her, only skimming her cheek. She was unfazed until a large purple blotch formed on her face."My magic allows me to poison people on contact. I call it red blight. (A/N: I'm sorry! I'm just such a big fan of Noragami!) Not bad right?," he said in a cocky tone. That was...uncharacteristic to say the least.
"Sky dragon's Wing attack!" Her attack send Aku flying to the edge of the platform. But he wasn't off yet. He had a small scratch on his face and bruises. "Red curse!"
Wendy was attacked by small red ghosts. They pulled her to the ground and trapped her, continuously giving her more purple blotches. She thrashed in their hold. They slowly started crawling up her body, inching her face.
"W-wait!," Aku yelled, "I-I'm not controlling anymore!"
"WHAT?!" I yelled
"KYAA!" Wendy screamed as she continued to jerk and try to get away.
"Aku! Stop this!," Gildarts yelled.
"I'm trying!"
"Sky dragon's Body Anomaly Reversal Magic, Raise!"
Her body glowed a teal hue as the ghosts were removed from her limbs. Once they disappeared she stood up, covered in purple patches.
"Sky dragon's wave wind!"
She swung her hands and a huge tornado finally pushed Aku into the water. He popped his head out of the water with a pout. "Damn"And that was it. Wendy won the one-on-one.
Now I had to wait for Laxus. I'm surely going to die today!Word count: 1094
