Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down

The laughter burst out of me as I watched him closed his eyes while pulling my earpiece out of his ear roughly before he threw it back at me with a mock glare on his face. Snatching my phone out of my hands, he exited the app that I had used to show him the rick-roll prank video and tucked it into his pocket.

"Can't believe you did that, I hate you." Crossing his arms over his chiselled chest, he raised one of his thick eyebrow and shook his head in a manner that made me laughed even louder. Although this was already the fifth time I was pranking him with rick-roll videos, his reaction – the utter sense of concede that washed over him – never seems to get old for me.

After my parents had agreed to letting me move to Ubbin Falls with my grandmother and to enrol myself in a University of my choice there, they had booked me on the same flight as Samuel. However, grandmother had decided that she wanted to stay a little longer because she had fallen in love with the food here. Until she comes back, I was given permission to stay with either Samuel or Granny Theodora first.

Rolling my eyes at him, I pretended to lean in for a kiss just to get him to uncross his arms but just as he was about to touch my lips with his, I tilted my head and gave his cheek a long lick. The laughter rolled out of me again for the umpteenth time the past three  days as I looked at the aggravated look on his face.

Economy passengers boarding flight JQ 476 can start making your way to the departure gates now.

Confirming our flight number to the one that was being announced, I slung my tiny purse over my shoulders once I was sure and watched as Samuel picked up his bag along with my carrier before we made our way towards the departure gate hand in hand. Despite our earlier teasing, we fell back into a comfortable silence as his thumb rubbed comforting circles on my knuckles with a big smile on our faces that I was surprised we haven't blinded anyone yet.

Joining the queue at the departure gate, I reached into my purse for our tickets when his ringtone – Simple Plan's Jet Lag – sounded. Taking his phone out, I passed it to him without glancing at it as I dug deeper into my purse for our plane tickets. "Sam, your phone's ringing."

Planting a kiss on my cheek with his toothy grin, he plucked his phone out of my hands and answered it quickly. But clearly, whoever had called bore bad news seeing as his face turned red with the anger boiling inside him.

Afraid that he would lose control to his wolf in a busy airport, I reached out and rubbed his back in a soothing manner in hopes that he would calm down. Thankfully, just as I've read in the encyclopaedia about how a mate's touch could pull them back from the brink of their anger, his body relaxed under my touch. But it was clear he was still angry, just merely controlling the anger inside of him because of me.

"I'm on the way back now. Just check for any evidences, fingerprints or whatever for now." With a soft growl, he hanged up the phone – harder than necessary – and tucked it in his pockets.

"Is everything ok?" It felt stupid to be asking that but it just felt right seeing as he wasn't about to tell me what happened willingly. Not liking the frown etched on his face, I continued rubbing circles on his back and leaned my head on his shoulder. "What happened?"

Exhaling a heavy sigh, he wrapped his arm around me and pressed his forehead to mine as though using me as his anchor to remain calm. Which confirmed another thing I read on the encyclopaedia, that a mate's scent could make the wolf calm down knowing its mate was safe even though it may not be related to them in the first place.

"Sam – "

"They took Red. Those bastards took Red."

AUTHOR'S NOTE: For my forgetful readers, Red is the guy they played floorball with. And why do you think Samuel was asking for evidences like a detective or angry alpha? Hmmmm 🤔

Also, this is the end of Emily and Samuel and I hope you enjoyed this journey/adventure with me because I definitely did. It has been such an amazing experience to be able to write something I always wanted to but never had the guts and I would like to thank the people who have been with me since day one, supporting me. Thank you so much. I love you all very much.
