I took a pill in Ibiza, to show Avicii I was cool

"Emily Lee! Stop singing or I will hang you from the nearest tree now get your ass down here, we were supposed to leave 15 minutes ago," I made my way down with a sheepish grin just as grandmother was about to come up the stairs.

Grabbing our bags from the floor, we made our way to grandmother's granny automobile. Gently putting the bags in the trunk so grandmother can't fault me for it and give me another lecture. After buckling ourselves in, we set off to Ubbin Falls where I'm going to witness my first ever meteor shower.

Grandmother had caved and called mum to let her know about this impromptu trip after much pouting and begging on my side but apparently, dad knows of this supposedly town – that has no records online – and has supposedly childhood friends – that I've never heard of – in it so I didn't have to beg grandmother to make the call in the first place since they would have said yes.

"So, how did you meet granny pretty eyes?" Thinking back of the run in with granny pretty eyes few days back, I slowly turned my body towards grandmother and waited for her answer since I've never really seen a picture of her in any of grandmother's photo albums before.

"She was your grandfather's childhood friend, after he passed I never really saw them again. Also, her name is Theodora so stop calling her that."

Taken aback by an actual response about grandfather, I couldn't help the curiosity in me. So, I took the advantage of the fact that her guard is down and continued asking. "What was granddad like?"

Grandfather passed away before I was born and I guess his death took a huge toll on grandmother because she never really liked to talk about it whenever I asked her.

"Your grandfather was a good man, he always wanted to help people no matter how out of the way it will be for him. Sometimes, I have the urge to smack him hard with a baseball bat. I remember our first anniversary celebration, he made me wait for an hour because he wanted to buy me some flowers but it happened that the florist was leaking that day and he decided to help move everything for the owner to minimize her loss." She murmured affectionately, lost in her own memory with a small smile on her face.

"Dad used to tell me stories about you and granddad, how he would always surprise you after work with your favourite donuts, how he sold his car to buy you a wedding ring, how he looked at you with a spark in his eyes, how much he loved you." I replied, clasping her hand in mine with a comforting smile when I saw her eyes getting teary.

"He did. I did too, still do."

Not wanting to ruin the moment, I looked out and watch the trees as we made our way deeper into the woods with a smile on our faces.

🚗

"How could you forget to ask her for the number?" I asked disbelievingly as grandmother did another round trying to figure out which house belongs to granny pretty eyes.

"Zip it, I haven't been here in ages and everything I remember about this place is a blur alright." She snapped at me, her eyes twitching ever so slightly.

I exhaled loudly as she made another round for the millionth time, before she could make the millionth and one round a blonde-haired guy stepped in front of granny's car with a wary look. He walked over to the driver's side and knocked on the window, waiting for grandmother to wind down the window. Blondie placed his hands on the hood of the car and leaned down showing off his striking silver orbs, how was it possible to even have eyes like these? It was times like this that I despised how dull my eyes look.

"Evening, did you take the wrong turn in? The exit is on the left not right." He asked, silver eyes studying us carefully.

"We're looking for Theodora O'Neil." I snickered as grandmother snapped at him, grandmother always had a bad case of road rage even at her age. She took her eyes off blondie and shot me a deathly stare.

"You must be Mrs Anderson then, gran's been waiting for you all day. You can leave the car here, we're just next door. Do you need help with your bags?"

"Thank you but we got it from here," I responded to the poor blondie with a friendly smile since grandmother was in her grumpy mood and can hardly be bothered to play nice now.

I went to the trunk and carried our bags, before I could even take another step the bags were taken away from me into blondie's hands. Surprised by the act of chivalry I sent him a grateful smile before we made our way into the brown one storey cottage-like house that looks like most of the houses here in Ubbin Falls.

Ubbin Falls looks just like any other town with its townspeople buzzing around to-and-fro, for a second I asked myself why didn't we stop and just asked someone – anyone really –  where the O'Neil's lived instead of driving around in circles. Scanning through the shops and mentally making a list of the shops I'd like to check out after unpacking, with the list in mind I make my way into the house.

"Emily! It's so nice to see you again! I'm sure you've met my grandson, Grayson. Grayson, can you show Emily to her room please." Granny pretty eyes greeted with a hug and kissed both sides of my cheeks taking me by surprise since I wasn't used to such affectionate people. I turned around and followed Grayson down the hallway and he opened the last door on the right, gesturing for me to enter with his hands.

The room was painted light blue with a simple white headboard and blue covers on the bed. The window overlooks the surrounding trees giving it a cabin in the woods vibe and I can't wait to see what the room looks like at night with the moonlight shining in. Thanking Grayson for his help, he walked out closing the door behind him while I set off to unpacking my bags for the second time this week.

🏡

A sense of déjà vu hit me as grandmother knocked on my door once again as I was unpacking. "Dinner's ready, come on out." Grandmother said while studying my temporary room, thanking my lucky stars for this opportunity I jumped up and kicked the bag to a side.

The kitchen looked like a disaster with used pots and pans in the sink, tomato sauce stain on the table and even strands of spaghetti laying everywhere but underneath the mess I could picture the kitchen in its picturesque state looking every bit like the kitchens they show in movies. I offered to set the table since it was pretty awkward standing in the middle of the mess, getting the place mat and cutleries I made my way to the dining room.

"Do you need a ruler for it?" I nearly jumped out of my skin not realizing Grayson has joined me in the dining room. He sat down in one of the chairs that I'm guessing was his with an amused look in my direction and chuckled, "sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I just, you looked so focus on the task and you were even measuring the gap with your hands."

"I just want to make sure we get equal space so that our arms don't collide while eating," I defended, feeling flustered and aghast at his words. I can't believe I got caught doing something so stupid, I can't believe I got lost in the trigonometry question that came up in my mind and tried to solve it with the visual aid of the place mat, I can't –

"Hey, I was joking, take off the serial killer look please," he said with both hands up in the air as though trying to calm a wild animal down and I'm so glad I've mastered my poker face to not let my embarrassment show.

Before I could respond to him that I wasn't plotting his death, our grandmothers came out with the food and placed them in the center. Despite the wicked Italian meal granny pretty eyes made, the only thing running on my mind throughout the dinner was the trigonometry question that I never got to solve.
