Dante;
In fuming annoyance, I glared at Norah and this boy sitting opposite her, taking note of how well they were getting along judging by the facial expression's appearing on my tutor's face. My eyes narrowed, taking the two of them in.
I was so focused on them, I hardly glanced at Ella as she slipped off my lap, telling me that she was going to get herself a low-calorie salad. Or was it, water?
Whatever.
I suddenly burst out into laughter as I watched Norah spit her drink out onto that unknown kid. Poor guy, I feel so sorry for him.
I watched as the kid jumped up and out of his seat in shock, his mouth agape as he stared at her, Norah's hand covering her mouth as her pretty hazel eyes widened.
She removed her hand from her mouth and started talking quickly to the kid who shook his head, his chestnut locks bouncing delicately on his shoulders.
My laughter died down as I began to study this kid further, his hands making large sweeping gestures. I couldn't see what his face looked like as his back was to me but I could tell he was already starting to dissolve into chuckles.
There was definitely something…off, about this guy. He was different from everyone else, I could pick that out pretty easily but there was something about him that just didn't fit.
Hmm…
I was shaken out of my contemplating thoughts by the loud raucous laughter of one of my swim mates and turned my head around to see AJ, a green-eyed guy complete with dark auburn hair, grinning like crazy, his arm slung casually on the back of the chair next to him, currently occupied with a particularly slutty brunette that I just can't stand even though we did get together for that one night…
Ahem.
I think I'll leave the rest up to you and your imagination…
Or not.
Whatever, back to the topic here.
I followed the gaze of AJ - his real name is Anthony Jackson but he hates the name and prefers it shortened, hence the initials, AJ - my eyes landing on Ella grasping the front of my best friend's shirt tightly, her eyes looking up at him and filled with adoration, lust and just plain old slutty-ness.
I cracked a tiny smile for no reason apart from feeling like I kind of had to (don't ask me why), shaking my head and trying to ignore what was going on before my very eyes.
Ella was now thanking my best friend for 'saving her life' because she 'tripped' on the stupid floor. And apparently, she would've broken her whole leg were it not for him to catch her as she fell.
All of this was said in a very husky sort of whisper, Ella pressing herself against Braden with me (her official boyfriend) sitting not too far away and within the viewing range of Braden's girlfriend too.
I tore my eyes away from the seductive looking Ella and panicky, annoyed Braden who was trying to wrestle his way out of Ella's tight grip, and my gaze landed on Norah, stalking quickly away from the cafeteria hall, her steps quick as she kept her head down and avoided looking at the unfolding scene.
And, although I really don't know why, I felt like getting up off my seat and following her to comfort her or something.
Anything.
I know, I know. I was still thoroughly pissed at her for taking her stupid little moods out on me for no absolute reason, save the fact that she hates my guts but that doesn't count.
But seriously, I really did feel like getting up and following her but seeing that chestnut haired kid jumping up and walking briskly out the cafeteria to catch up to her made my stomach turn inside out.
