Looking around the now beginning-to-get-a-little-claustrophobic-in-here kitchen, my eyes landed on my skinny, very short, younger fourteen-year-old brother who is way too smart for his own good, both in intelligence and in sarcastic wit. Got a real mouth on that guy there but no matter, I love him. Apparently, though, he seems to think our family is too normal for him, not enough drama, life etc. So, he did the unthinkable and got one of his best friends to dye his hair green. And no, not just normal green but bright, neon green. My mother threw a fit the first time she saw it but now, it's kind of grown on her. Plus, there's also the fact that in addition to his highly amazing IQ, he's also an arty sort of person. Loves to act he does along with draw and paint the most. He prefers the canvas to the spotlight though, if you had to make him choose. He's a pretty weird kid, especially when it comes to his name which is the scariest part. Sadly, he was christened with the name Arthur but now, it's kind of become officially shortened and it's now Art. Yep, that's right, Art. As in the arty things he likes to do.
"Hey Art." I nodded at him.
"Hey." His response was short and a little distracted. Blue eyes identical to my father's scanned the packed kitchen area as he picked out on the guests and politely went over to introduce himself. I feel for the guy. He has to live in this house. Don't get me wrong, I love my family but sometimes they can get a bit too much, especially with not just two or three brats running around but four.
Let me be the first to tell you that there are a lot of people in my family seriously. They have eight kids, me included. I'm the third oldest kid with my older sister Jeanie moved out at the age of 20 and currently living with her fiancé. She's not going to be coming over this Christmas, opting to spend time last-minute with her soon-to-be-in-laws. Mom and dad would have gone had they not scheduled this meeting with the Parkers already. Of course, my older brother, Carter, isn't going to be here either since him and his best friend have gone out to spend their holiday snowboarding with each other in his best mate's cabin in some place I just cannot remember.
What? I have an amazing girlfriend, do you think I'd even care to know where he went for his trip when I have Norah sitting in the chair opposite me and desperately trying to make me understand English?
"You little guys are just darling!" Mrs. Parker cooed. I couldn't help but stare at her in a flabbergasted sort of way. What happened to dragon lady?
"Come on." I felt a small tug on the side of my shirt and I looked down to Norah who was smiling and tugging me towards the stairs.
Glancing around the kitchen I made eye contact with Rick who just smiled and waved us away before turning to converse with Art."Oh my god, I seriously cannot comprehend how on earth you can stand to live in this mess. And why is it that your dorm at school is always so neat when at home, you live like a pig?" Norah groaned as she pushed open the door to my bedroom. Gazing around my room, I smirked at the mess.
"One word: maid. At the dorms, I have a maid to clean all the mess. In my room, I just can't be bothered to clean it up since because I'm older my mother says I should be more responsible for my own messes. Our maid's been told that my room is completely off-limits. That's kind of why I'm pretty amazed at how neat you keep stuff and you don't even have a maid." I shrug, "Besides, when you have little twin brothers, a nosy fourteen-year-old kid and two young girls who are permanently invading your room to look for incriminating evidence to be used as blackmail, you kind of just give up after a while. No sooner am I done then Darryl and Darren come barreling through the door, I swear, they have a built-in sensor on locating newly cleaned rooms." I roll my eyes as Norah starts to giggle.
"Now, pray tell Norah darling, did you drag me up to my room just to complain about the ungodly mess that belongs to me?" I teased in a fake, British accent.
"Well, actually, I did. So now that we're clear…I think we should go face my parents again." She laughed and I dramatically draped a hand over my forehead.
"Norah, you wound me so, my fair lady! First, I'm a pig and now, you want absolutely nothing to do with me! I shall make you pay!"I growled before tackling her onto the bed and tickling her mercilessly.
"Stop! No! Noooo!" she giggled, thrashing wildly beneath me. When I finally released her, she lay out beneath me, her cheeks red and her hair in a mess.
I have never seen such a gorgeous sight before, not even when she dressed up for that party, all those many months ago.
"Beautiful…" I whispered.
"My, my, is the great Dante Nichols actually going…dare I say it? Soft?!" she mock gasped at me, covering her mouth with a hand as she looked around with wide eyes. I rolled my won forest green eyes before leaning down to seal our lips together, just as good as our first kiss in the rain.
Fuck, I really am a sap, goddamnit!
"Dante?" Norah murmured as we came up for air.
"Mm?" I mumbled out before leaning down to cover her lips again, her teeth lightly nipping at my bottom lip. I kissed her more fiercely, my tongue dragging along her lower lip as she opened her mouth and a fierce battle of dueling dominance fought between us until we couldn't carry it on any longer and came up for air. I tell you, there's nothing better than the feeling of loving and being loved back. I kissed her again, more lightly.
"Shut up. You're thinking too loud." She managed to gasp out in a half-whisper.I just smiled.
