epilogue

"nari, baby, can you come down for a minute?"

"yeah, i'm coming."

when nari stepped out of their shared room, she was met with lights strung all down the staircase, and rose petals scattered all along the stairs.

she stopped at the top step, and looked down at her boyfriend, who was at the bottom of the staircase, looking back at her.

"what is all of this?" she let out a soft giggle.

"just come down."

at his request, she started to walk down the stairs, and she gladly accepted the hand he held out for her once she reached the bottom. he led her to the sofa and they both sat down.

"are you gonna tell me what's going on now?" she asked.

"just wanna talk."

"about what?"

"a lot of things.. i've been thinking a lot recently.." he again took hold of one of her hands and squeezed it tight.

"you've been in my life for six, almost seven, years now. isn't that crazy?? and we've been a couple for majority of that time.."

"in that time, i've watched you grow into such a strong, mentally and physically, successful, and beautiful person. i can't put into words of how proud i am of you. you really are an amazing woman."

"you mean so much to me. waking up every morning by your side is honestly something i look forward to the minute i close my eyes to go to sleep."

he paused and took a deep breath before continuing.

"but i've always had this fear.."

"fear?" she looked up at him, though he was looking straight ahead rather than at her. "of what?"

"that somebody would take you away from me." he turned his head and met her gaze. "that somebody would come and say all the things i've been meaning to and make you fall in love with them. i know it sounds stupid, but it's how i feel.."

while he was talking, he say her eyes get watery, and a few tears fall out of her eyes. when he was finished, she put both hands on either side of his face.

"jeongguk.. i love you, and only you. nobody can take me away from you. you're the man i love, nothing anybody says or does can change that, okay?" he grabbed on of her hands and squeezed it.

"i'm so happy that you said that.."

he took her hands off of his face and stood up from the sofa.

"what are you doing, jeongguk?"

he ignored her question and proceeded to get down on one knee in front of her.

"no.." she covered her mouth as she let out a small laugh.

"nari, i love you so much. you have been a blessing to me since the day you first came into my life. and i want you to continue being a blessing to me, but as my wife. will you marry me?"

"jeongguk, are you crazy?"

her question took him off guard, as her tone had suddenly become angry.

"nari, i'm—" he tried to explain but she cut him off by laughing.

"jeongguk, are you crazy? of course i'd love to marry you."

jungkook let out the breath he didn't realize he was holding as he slipped the ring on nari's finger.

"i love you, nari." he kissed her forehead.

"i love you, too, jeongguk."
