Kelsey's vision was filled with lights until it stopped, leaving her sight blurred. Blinking rapidly her eyes adjusted and settled on a coach. It looked like the coach from her living room, with the same throw pillows... This was her house! Sitting up, looked over at Gabe and notice him getting up. They made eye contact, knowing that the other was just as surprised and confused as themselves. There wasn't a sound until Bo wiggled out of Kelsey's grasp and ran under the couch
Struggling to stand Gabe exclaimed, "That was awesome!" Before quickly kneeling down to cradle his injured knee.
Shaking her head Kelsey stood up. "Gabe! We could've been killed!"
"Yeah, but you got a cool outfit and got us out." He smiled up at her.
Realizing that she was still wearing the annoying gloves, she lifted her hands to tug one off, but before she could even touch the strange fabric, it was gone in a flash. Literally. There was a quick flash of light and Kelsey was in her regular clothes.
The two teens just stared at each other. Kelsey still held a look of confusion mixed with shock, while Gabe smiled in awe.
None of this made sense. She thought of everything that has happened and gave up on trying to find an explanation knowing that no one on earth could explain-" Wait! Claire!" she thought out loud. "A-and Toby! They were there!"
"Oh yeah, I forgot about them." Gabe thought back.
Kelsey continued to speak ignoring her friend's comment. "They were there, Gabe! They had... uh, strange weapons! Oh, and they were chasing the goblins! They could probably tell me what's going o-"
"Your lucky Penny's a heavy sleeper." A voice yawned from the top of the staircase. "Gabe? What are you doing here?"
Kelsey jumped back almost knocking over a vase. "Dad! What are you doing up?" She questioned.
He lazily descended from the stairs. "I heard you yelling about goblins. Kelsey, I thought you were done."
Kelsey was going a hundred miles per hour. Her dad was going to think she was crazy. He was going to send her to an insane asylum. Her mom was going to be devastated and somehow her mind went to her becoming a shoe slave. She was very lucky to have a simple-minded friend.
"Sorry, Mr. Stone," Gabe spoke up. "I've been watching a shows about goblins where people have to get rid of them and Kelsey here" he grabbed her shoulder. "Is a victim to my rambling."
Nodding his head, Mr. Stone replied. "Okay, why didn't you tell me this when we talked?"
"My bad. I didn't think it was the show since you said it was from her childhood, but then she began to talk about a character who had an awesome outfit, bow and arrow and-"
Mr. Stone held up his hand silencing the young man. "Okay, I get it. Kelsey," he turned to his daughter. "Were yelling because you were excited for the show or... "
"Yes!" She piped in reply.
"Well can you please be a bit quieter?" He said returning upstairs.
The two teens spoke in unison "Yes, sir."
As the night got darker, it was decided that Gabe would sleep on the couch and then in the morning they'd return Bo (who was still under the couch) and get Gabe's car back since the strange creatures seemed to only come out at night.
▪•▪•▪They both woke up early- Well, Kelsey did, and then she had to wake up Gabe. They did as they planned, returning Bo home, who was happy to be somewhere safe, next, the duo found Gabe's car. He tried to drive them to school on time so they could ask Claire and/or Toby about what happened last light, however right when he parked the school bell rang signaling them to hurry to their first class.
They had no time to speak since the only class they had only had P.E. together and that was at the end of the day. They were lucky that they had the same lunch.
"So do you have any classes with them?" Gabe asks before taking a bite from his burger.
Kelsey shook her head in reply. "No, but I did have a class with Jim, but he was absent. Maybe we could-" She was unable to finish because of a certain bubbly girl.
"Hi, Kelsey." Amber greeted. "I just want to thank you for taking care of Bo for me."
Smiling in reply Kelsey gave a short reply. "No problem. How's your grandma?"
Amber let out a burst of laughter, causing everyone in the lunchroom to stare at them. After she quieted down she giggled. "Oh, my gosh! Sorry but we thought she was going to die, but when we got there turns out she just needed someone to get her constipation pills."
"And with that, I lost my appetite," Gabe stated dropping his burger.
Amber's eyes widen as if she had just noticed Gabe sitting by Kelsey. "Oh, Gabe! That reminds me, Senor Uhl needs you again for his class, and-Oh, I'm sorry Kelsey! I forgot your money! It's in my locker- I'll be right back!" and Amber sprinted off.
Gabe stood up taking his tray. "Duty Calls." he sighed while dumping his food away. He whispered "Meet at my car after school and we'll talk about it later." to Kelsey before walking off.
Kelsey wasn't alone for long before Amber returns with a frown. Her eyes looked down as she spoke with a pout. "I'm sorry, but I can't get your money yet. I was caught running in the halls and now I'm supposed to get some equipment from the gym closet." she took a deep sigh before finishing. "Can you help me?"
Smiling Kelsey nodded her head. It would be nice to hang out with someone who (so far) had a normal life.
"Thank you!" She squealed as she gave Kelsey a bear hug automatically brightening up.
So Kelsey followed Amber to the gym. The blonde spoke of her new favorite show, new nail polish, some of the rumors going around- her mouth never closed. "So have you heard about Jim Lake Jr.? Word around says he's missing. No one knows if he ran away or got kidnapped."
Kelsey opened her mouth to ask yet, Amber beat her to it by announcing. "Here we are." She opened the door and gestured for Kelsey to enter.
Surprisingly it was pitch black. Unable to see anything, she stumbled around until she was hit and slammed into the wall. She felt a burst of pain from her side.
As Kelsey groaned in pain she heard a loud, familiar, hoarse laugh. "It's going to be a shame losing you."
