*BACK TO THE PRESENT*
The insane and depressed Tapp was still sitting in his messy apartment, suffering from memories of that fateful day him and his partner nearly caught Jigsaw, but his partner ended up suffering a gruesome death. He was now weak and desperate to catch the Jigsaw killer.
"I had you... on your knees," Tapp muttered to himself. "You were running, you were running scared because we had you. I'm going to close this case. Ram close it." He picked up a small framed photograph of Sing, which he kept on his table.
"Right, Sing?" he said to the photograph. "Right? We're gonna close it, Sing."
Back in the bathroom, Lawrence and Adam were still sitting there. Adam was still examining the photograph of the captive Alison and Diana.
"Excuse me?" Lawrence said, irritated.
"Just because I'm trapped in this room with you doesn't mean I have to report to you every ten seconds!" Adam said, also irritated.
Lawrence sighed. "I really don't see the point of us not helping one another."
"Well, what do you want me to do?" Adam said. "I'm on a leash."
"That's exactly why we need to talk!" Lawrence said. "We need to think!"
"I am thinking!" Adam said.
"Well then don't keep me in the dark about what you're thinking!" Lawrence snapped.
Something about that statement triggered something in Adam's mind. He suddenly had an idea.
"Turn off the lights!" Adam said quickly.
"What?" Lawrence said.
"Turn them off now, please!" Adam said.
"Why?" Lawrence said.
"Just turn them off for a second!" Adam said impatiently.
Lawrence stared at him oddly for a few seconds, then flipped the light switch. Adam looked around and saw on the wall behind Lawrence was a glow in the dark X painted on the tiles.
"Jesus, behind you!" Adam called out.
Lawrence turned around and saw it, surprised. "How come we didn't see that before?"
"The lights hadn't charged it." Adam replied. "It must be glow in the dark paint or something."
Lawrence flipped the lights back on. Both of them winced slightly at the change in brightness. Lawrence picked up his hacksaw, then hit the X point on the wall. The tiles broke off easily, and behind the wall, Lawrence saw a small brown box with a hinged lid. Both men grinned with delight as Lawrence placed it on the ground in front of him.
"Open it!" Adam said excitedly.
Lawrence showed Adam a small lock on it. "It's locked. Where's that key, the one from my envelope, where is it?"
Adam bent down behind him and picked up the key. He tossed it to Lawrence, who put it through the lock and twisted it. The lid opened with ease. Reaching inside the box, he pulled out a cell phone. He smiled with relief.
Adam also had a big smile. "Cell phone. Most beautiful invention on the planet!"
Lawrence reached into the box again and pulled out a cigarette. Adam let out a joyful laugh.
"Make that second most beautiful invention! Give me that!"
"Are you joking?" Lawrence said. "You're going to put something we found in this room in your mouth?"
