When I wake up a few hours later, I feel a Matthew's chest under my head acting as a pillow. I slowly sit up trying not to disturb him. I sit for a minute just watching him, how much of this and his life have I missed out on?
"Staring is rude, you know. I know I'm hard to resist but this borders on creepy." I jump when I hear him and smack his shoulder.
"Damn it, Matt don't do that." He opens his eyes and pushes himself into an upright position before he stands up. He reaches for my hand and pulls me up next to him.
"Come on, I'll take you to breakfast." I open my mouth to protest, but am cut off when he presses his lips to mine. I jump in surprise knocking my head against his. "Gees, I didn't think I was that bad of a kisser."
"Shut up. You can't just do that." I scowl at him as I walk towards my bedroom.
"Sure I can, I just did." I slam the door behind me and hear him laughing behind it. I walk through my room and over to my closet pulling out a pair of jeans and a long sleeve shirt.
Stepping out of the bedroom I see Matthew standing in the middle of the living room holding a picture in his hand. I walk up and stand next to him scanning the photo. "I think this is my favorite." He glances over at me bending to kiss my temple. I just nod in response to his comment, as a form of agreement about the photo. "We will be talking today Cassie. One way or another." He reaches over and squeezes my hand, "And we will figure this out baby girl. I promise." I close my eyes for a moment and lean into his chest.
"There's nothing to figure out Matt. Nobody but us knows or needs to, all they would do is ruin everything more than I already have." I slide my shoes on and walk over to the door after grabbing my purse. "You said we were leaving, so are you even going to come or just stand there staring?" I step out the door and stop as he loosely grabs my wrist.
"We'll leave. But first, is that really what you think? That you ruined it?" I shrug scowling at him. "Cassie, you didn't ruin anything. Just put a damper on the plans, we're still married and that's what matters. I love you. You know that right? Now come on, lets get you some food."
I bite my lip pulling away from him and walk out the door and down the hall. I walk to the elevator and push the down button waiting for it to arrive at my floor. I can feel Matt standing next to me and try to steady my breathing. "So where are we going dear way to freaking optimistic?" I step into the elevator and press the ground floor as he follows in behind me.
He sighs standing slightly behind me as the elevator slowly glides down towards the main lobby. "Italian restaurant, a ways away. Emerson Grill or something like that." We step out of the elevator and towards the main doors. He glances towards me shrugging his shoulder, "I only know it has Italian food so pasta and pizza."
