I roll over on the bed, groaning as the sheet wraps around my foot. I carefully sit up, not wanting to wake Matthew, before reaching down and untangling myself from the sheet. Laying back down I scoot closer to where he lays and feel a strong arm wrap around my waist pulling me closer. Looking up I see his eyes still closed with sleep. I smile softly and rest my head against his shoulder, relishing in the safety of his arms. Closing my eyes I breath in and out, slowly feeling sleep take over my body.
I blink against the soft streams of light coming through the window and push myself up, so I'm sitting. I look towards Matt's side of the bed to find it empty, and the blankets pulled up as neat as they could be with me still in the bed. I yawn, and slide my legs off the side of the bed, before standing and straitening the bedding. I hear the sound of hushed voices as I step out into the hallway and turn to the bathroom. I close the door behind me and rinse my face with cold water. I watch as the water droplets slide down my face and off of my chin. I reach to the side grabbing a towel and pat my face dry. I stare at my reflection for a moment taking in my messy hair, the shirt I stole from Matt that hangs loosely on my body stopping at the bottom of my thighs. I glance down at my legs suddenly remembering the absence of pants. Stepping out of the bathroom I duck back into my bedroom and step into a pair of shorts, ending just before the shirt does.
I grab my brush quickly running it over my hair to rid it of the nasty snarls, it gathered during the night. Once I finish brushing out my hair I toss the brush onto the bed and walk out the door, in the direction of the living room and kitchen. I walk in and see Jake and Matt sitting on opposite sides of the table scowling at each other. Matthew looks up when he hears me enter and pushes up from the chair. He walks towards me smiling and pulls me to him for a moment. "Good morning gorgeous." He says as he looks down at me and kisses the top of my head. I lean into him, feeling my self relax in his arms. His arm slides around my waist as he leads me over to the table, where Jake is still sitting with his arms crossed.
"Morning Jake." I say as I shift in the chair, trying to find a comfortable position. I watch him as he stares ahead, directly at Matthew, while he gives a brief nod of acknowledgement. "Uh, Jake?" I pause looking between the two men sitting at my dining table. "What's going on here?"
Matt sits glaring at Jake, before he looks over to me. "Your brothers mad at us. We hid all of this from him and didn't tell him about us. And you didn't tell him about the baby," I bite my lip at the word. He reaches under the table and squeezes my hand, "which apparently makes you a mean. So he's acting like a child and ignoring you."
I roll my eyes and toss the stray napkin from the table at where Jake is sitting. "Jerk. You can't ignore me forever. Like you said last night, you love me. And I'm your baby sister." I stick my tongue out at him, and the corner of his lips tip upward and he shakes his head.
"I really have to go, you guys. Amber's still home, and keeps texting to ask me when I'm coming home." He pulls his phone out of his pocket. "She called me ten times last night. Even though I literally talked to her on the phone an hour before she started calling again. Now it's turned into a bunch of texts." He grins at his phone, and I chuckle.
"She loves you dummy. Go home." I push back from the chair and move to the kitchen to get a glass of water. "We'll be okay, big brother."
He stares at me across the room, so I stare back meeting his bright eyes. "I promise. Now go home to you wife." He smiles at me, jogging over and kissing my cheek before racing to the guest room. I shake my head and look at Matt, where he sits at the table watching me. "We will Matt. I get that now."
