"Belle, we have a problem." The seriousness in that voice was enough to drive every last bit of sleep out of my skin.
I forced myself to open my eyes and found dark, chocolate brown ones looking at me with confusion and guilt in them.
"Morning Prince." I offered him a weak smile, hoping that it would bring a smile to his lips.
"Yeah... Morning. We have a problem, it's about Brad- we have to talk, now."
I nodded and sat up. "What is it?"
"He's uh... How do I put this nicely? I'm not even sure there is a nice way to put this... Brad's missing." He paused to take a breath. "Yesterday was really difficult for him and I don't know when he'll be back so- so it's just us for today."
"Let's go look for him." I said immediately.
He looked at me for a few seconds without saying a word, then he brought his hands to mine, holding them gently in his.
"Izabelle, there's no point in looking for someone who doesn't want to be found. He wants to be alone for a while... either that or it's already too late and he's lying dead somewhere." A horrendous image found its way to my head. Brad lying in a pool of his own blood, rotting. "But as far as I know Brad, he's going to be fine-"
"Then why isn't he here?" I didn't realise how tightly I was holding on to his hands.
"Hey... he'll be fine." Austin assured me and I nodded, blinking back tears.
"Do you think it's because of what I said to him last night?" I asked, holding in my cries.
"I don't know." He let go of my hands and wiped my cheeks. "He's fine, I promise he's fine okay?"
"Why do I feel so much for him?"
"Because he's just like you..." He whispered holding my cheeks. He kissed my forehead and pulled me in for a hug.
"Prince something's wrong with me."
"I'll fix everything, I promise." He said.
"No, no you can't... what if this is my fault? Because I hurt him in some way..."
"He's fine, he's fine."
"How do you know?"
"Because I know! Listen to me, everything's going to be fine. I promise."
"What if he's dead Austin?"
"Ssh-" Before he could continue there was a knock on the door and a blond haired, blue eyed boy peeked inside, "The cat won't stop meow-ing, I need help!"
"His name's Jessica!" Austin called out letting go of me and cautiously taking a step back.
"I'm sorry if I disturbed anything, Jessica wouldn't let me sleep. Now I realise why he's restless, who names a male cat Jessica?" he snorted.
"He's alive!" I jumped out of bed, letting go of Austin.
"Yeah, he's probably just hungry and I've never had a cat because Austin's allergic and- wait how-" Before he could finish what he was saying I grabbed his neck and I pressed my lips into his. His hands came to my cheeks and held me steady against his. He's alive! I didn't know how I knew exactly what to do to his lips, Like I had memorised the feel of his lips and what he liked done to them. Suddenly he pulled away and gave me a funny look, "What was that for Belle?" for a few seconds, he looked happy like there was nothing breaking him anymore, but it disappeared as soon as I spoke.
"Austin said you were missing-"
"And she bought it." Austin grinned at me. And then it all made sense!
