"This is your way of punishing me, isn't it?" I cried. "You couldn't stand knowing that I liked him-- so you sent him away!"

He didn't even look at me.

"N-No-- you don't get to ignore me! You shouldn't have let him leave! What if something happens to him? You don't really care about him!"

"Is she going to be this cranky all night?" Diane asked walking out of her room.

Brad shrugged and continued staring at his phone.

"The Flynn I knew would've shut her up a long time ago." She chuckled.

"His name is Brad! Can you stop calling him that!"

"Brad? Flynn you haven't told her yet then?"

"Told me what?"

He said nothing.

"Brad!"

"Izabelle Carson." Diane sighed. "Poor little oblivious Izabelle Carson."

"Diane, leave us alone." He spoke finally.

She didn't question him. She didn't argue. She just walked away.

"Austin left because he wanted to. I knew that I couldn't stop him. And the last thing I needed was to have him run away. So I made arrangements for him to stay with my older brother Tucker. Yeah, I let him go. But that's only because after the stunt you pulled, I didn't want to have him run away and get himself hurt. He's safe. Ace is driving him there and Tucker knows how to take care of situations."

"Can't we all go back?"

"Tucker's not exactly the hospitable kind. I couldn't even leave our little brother with him. I'm not letting him get any closer to this situation than he needs to be. And I'm especially not going to let him get close to you. Besides, he's fond of Austin."

"So what your brother hates me now?" I scoffed.

"So now you shut the fuck up and get ready to train your ass off."

"I don't want to train. I literally got stabbed."

"Well, we'll have matching scars, I don't see how that's an excuse?"

"You know what Brad. I don't care anymore. I don't want to fight. I've had enough. And unless you're going to tell me why we're fighting, I refuse to do anything." I crossed my arms and leaned back.

He sighed. "Fine whatever, I don't see the point in hiding it from you anyways." He paused and bit his lip, sending me a blank stare before shaking his head.

"James runs this agency. I can't give you too many details but it's not something perfectly legal. Sure I mean we catch some bad guys but they're mainly competition. James has friends who make his business appear-- well-- clean? He hands over a few bad guys a year to the respective authorities, gets them off the streets-- he gets to run his business." I don't know what I was expecting but this was definitely not it.

Everything was getting real now?

Cindy was probably right? About James killing our parents?

Brad must've noticed that I was a little lost because he stopped talking.

I looked at him and nodded for him to continue.

"I don't work for James-- I told you that before. The only reason I'm taking orders from him right now is because even though he's not exactly a good person, he wants what's best for you."

"Cindy?" I asked.

"Cindy was my partner. See she knew James and she didn't want to be a part of what he did. She wanted to do something on her own. I don't know why Cindy decided to leave. It didn't make sense until you asked me about it. She didn't want to run away from the team Izabelle. She wanted to run away from you--"
