Rosie's POV
Friday 27th June 2014
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" My mom and Josh yelled as I walked in the living room. I forced a smile out as I looked around the room. It was decorated in red birthday banners (red is my favourite colour) and there were presents laid on the floor for me. I looked at the coffee table and saw a bouquet of red and white roses lay there. My favourites.
"You guys didn't have to do this for me" I said.
"We wanted to. It's your sixteenth birthday after all" mom said coming over to hug me.
"Has Shawn texted you?" She asked. I looked at her and shook my head no. For the first three days he was away, he face timed and texted me. But then the face times stopped and the texts became minimum. Don't get me wrong, I know he's going to be busy but come on...surely he'd be able to find a way to still text me or say that he can't FaceTime right? It's only been nine days and I already feel like crap. Last time we spoke was two days ago now.
"He will" she told me. I doubt it, usually I'd wake up and he's already texted me but he hasn't.
"Open your presents!" Josh yelled making me laugh.
I opened my presents from them and felt really grateful. The got me chocolate, money,perfume, make up and my main present was an iPad.
"Thank you so much" I said hugging them tightly.
After we cleaned up all the wrapping paper I went up to my room for a bit. I sat on my bed and looked at my phone.
4 new messages.

You're probably wondering who Abi is? She's my science lab partner. We get on pretty well and she's really sweet.
I heard the door belle go and I furrowed my eyebrow in confusion. I looked out the window and just about recognised manny before he stepped inside. Every year on my birthday the Mendes' come over, I guess I forgot about that this year cos I knew Shawn wouldn't be here.
I walked downstairs and saw my mom greeting them. Aaliyah was first to spot me.
"Rosie! Happy birthday!" She said running towards me and hugging me tightly.
"Thanks cutie" I said hugging her back.
"Wow. Sixteen. I remember when you turned 12!" Karen said hugging me tightly. I then hugged Manny before all of us went into the living room. This didn't feel right, it wasn't the same with Shawn not being here, I didn't have my best friend by my side. Wait, is he even my best friend? Last I remember we were kissing, best friends don't kiss. And now he's hardly talking to me. I'm so confused.
The Mendes' stayed round for a couple of hours and soon went home. I walked back up into my room and heard my phone ring. I walked over to where is was on my window sill and looked at the name.
Shawn
He was face timing me.
Do I answer?
Do I decline?
Do I answer and have a go at him for not talking to me and practically forgetting my birthday?
"Shawn!" I smiled as soon as his face popped up on the screen. Okay, what do you expect? It's my birthday, I'd rather not argue with him right now.
"Hey rosie, I'm so sorry I couldn't call or text you earlier as I've been super busy today. But happy birthday!!!" He screamed. I smiled.
"Thanks Shawn"
"What did you get?" He asked.
"My mom and Josh got me a few bits n bobs, a bouquet of roses and an iPad" I said. He smiled.
"That's so cute, have you done anything nice today?" He asked.
"No I've just stayed home" I shrugged. An awkward silence took place. What the hell is happening.
"Hey I know this was short but I've gotta go, it's getting late now and we've got a busy day ahead for magcon" he said.
"Oh okay, well I'll speak to you soon I guess" I said glumly.
"Goodnight Rosie"

A couple of days later, 1st July.
"Rosie, I've gotta talk to you about something" my mom said walking into my room. I locked my phone and sat up on my bed.
"What's up mom?" I asked worried. She looked rather nervous.
"I didn't know how to tell you this but, but, in about a months time we're moving" she said.
"Really? Where to? Ooo is it that nice place up for sale round the corner?!" I asked excitedly.
"No, Rosie. It's Virginia we're going to. We're moving to Virginia" she spoke. My jaw dropped and I was waiting for her to tell me she was kidding.
"Virginia in America Virginia?" I asked. She nodded.
"What?! Since when?! Why?!" I asked raising my voice.
"My job. I've been transferred there, they're paying for the flight out there, the house and everything." She explained.
"Oh so that makes it okay?! Mom I've literally grown up here! This is where home is, it's where school is, mom it's where Shawn is" I spoke.
"Honey I know. And I know this is a shock to you but maybe it will turn out okay, it's a fresh start you know?" She said.
"No mom I don't want that!"
"You're starting junior year after summer, give it a chance honey" she said before leaving. I felt like crying, heck I already was. I could literally feel the tears rolling down my cheeks. A months time I'll be moving to Virginia?
I need to talk to someone. I need Shawn.
Ring once. Ring twice.
Ring five times.
"Hey this is Shawn, sorry I can't reach your call right now but if you leave a message I'm sure I'll get back to you when I can" beeeeeppp
"Umm hey Shawn. I err, never mind. I just, I miss you. Text me or something." I then ended the call. I couldn't tell him over voice mail. I can't bring myself to tell him at all. I can't tell anyone. Maybe if I bottle it up and not tell anyone, it will eventually not be true.
