Chapter 18~ impossible to erase

Matts POV

Same day

I hung up the phone, feeling my anger boil inside of me after hearing Rosie tell me what just happened at Austin's party with Luke.

"How is she?" Shawn asked impatiently. I looked at him and his facial expression turned serious after seeing mine.

"Not good, something just happened" I told him. I figured Rosie was just calling me to wish me a happy new year as its 9:15pm here right now so in Virginia it would be 12:15am, but I was wrong. She needed her best friend.

"What happened? Matt you better tell me" he said I patiently. If you haven't already guessed, I got stuck in a room with Shawn, Taylor and Carter. Taylor and Carter are also in the room and are very confused right now.

"She was at our friends party and one of our other friends was hitting on her and being aggressive about it and stuff. It's okay though, another one of our friends walked her home and she's safe and u hurt." I told him.

"You have so many friends" Carter said with a confused face. I chuckled lightly and shook my head.

"I wanna text her so bad right now" Shawn said in frustration as he held his hands at the back of his head.

"I wouldn't do it man, it'll ruin her plans" I told him. He looked at me.

"What plans?" He questioned.

"Look I shouldn't be telling you this but, for New Years she wanted to put everything behind her and start fresh. All the bad memories she's had from this year she wants to forget about, including you. She doesn't want anything to do with you anymore" I told him sadly. I didn't make any eye contact, I couldn't.

"What?" He asked, his voice cracking. He sounded hurt. I would be to if someone told me that. Rosie's a great girl and he's known her way longer than I have, heck the pair of them fell in love. Obviously he's gonna be hurt.

"I'm sorry bro" I told him.

"She wouldn't do that, would she?" He asked, his pained emotions clear on his face. I shrugged.

"She never thought you would hurt her the way you did when we done magcon over the summer but you still did it" I snapped. He looked taken back and didn't say a word.

"I'm sorry man, I'm just really angry with Luke right now" I told him. He nodded.

"Who's this girl y'all are talking about?" Taylor decided to finally ask. Shawn and I made eye contact before signing in defeat.

"Shawn's ex best friend" I said.

"Matts current best friend" Shawn added.

"She lived in Canada but moved next door to me in Virginia about four and a half months ago" I explained.

"And Shawn, you and her had a thing?" Carter asked.

"Yeah but I was an idiot and took her for granted. When we were on magcon in the summer I ignored her completely, missed her birthday and pretended she didn't exists. I came back to Canada the day before she left. It all went downhill the moment I left for magcon to be honest" he explained.

"Well damn" Carter said.

"Do you still love her?" Taylor asked.

"Never stopped" Shawn admitted taking me by surprise.

"Then fight for her. Have you done anything to try and get her back since she left?" Taylor asked sitting up from his bed.

"No. We cut contact from each other completely." He said looking down.

"Broooo. You're an idiot!" Carter said frustrated.

"I know" Shawn mumbled.

"Fight for her" Taylor said.

"I don't know how!" Shawn said becoming frustrated himself.

"Shawn look at me." Taylor told him. Shawn looked at him.

"Fight. For. Her." He stated clearly and loudly to him.

"Matt, do you think you can talk to her for me? Find out if there's ever a chance of us happening again?" He asked with hope, clear in his voice. I shrugged.

"I can try, I can't promise I'll get anywhere with it though" I told him.

"It's worth a try, we're at Virginia on the 6th aren't we?" Taylor asked. I nodded.

"Awesome, the plan starts then" Carter confirmed.

Oh god. This isn't going to go well at all.

Rosie's POV

"Rosie?! Is that you?!" My mom called as I walked through the door.

"Er yeah, hey mom" I said quietly.

"I thought you'd be home later" she chuckled as she emerged from the living room.

"Nah, the party got a little boring" I lied. She nodded.

"Be quiet when you go upstairs, Josh is sleeping. Happy new year" she smiled.

"You too mom" I responded before walking up the stairs to my room. I closed my door and sighed. What a night.

1st January 2015. Please be a better year for me. It's the day everything changes for me. I've gotta get rid of Shawn. He's gotta get out of my mind. I walked over to my dressing table draw where the scrap book lied and I held it in my hands. I was going to bin it. A part of me was telling me to do it but the other part wasn't. I opened it up and flipped through it, remembering when each photo was taken and the memory behind it. I missed him so much. Too much to let him go. I couldn't do it. I dropped the book on my bed and let the tears fall out. I don't have his number now, he unfollowed me on social media so would never notice a DM or a tweet, our contact is impossible. I just want him back. I love him.

I picked up my phone and clicked on matts contact to ring him. The phone rang three times before he answered.

"Rosie?" He asked, clearly confused as to why I was calling him a second time.

"I can't do it" I cried down the phone.

"Do what?" He questioned.

"The Shawn thing. I can't erase him from my memory I care about him too much" I said.

"Who's on the phone?" The familiar Canadian accent asked from the other line. Panick washed over me and I ended the call quickly before throwing the phone on the bed beside the scrap book. Staring at the scrap book, I cried even more.
